Gear oil formulations having enhanced perfomance |
(57) A lubricant composition suitable for use as an automotive or industrial gear lubricant
comprising:
- (A) from about 40 to about 70 wt. %, based on the total weight of the lubricant composition,
of a mineral oil;
- (B) from about 2 to about 20 wt. %, based on the total weight of the lubricant composition,
of at least one selected from vinyl aromatic-diene copolymers, olefin copolymers and
mixtures thereof;
- (C) from about 2 to about 20 wt. %, based on the total weight of the lubricant composition,
of at least one polyalphaolefin having a kinematic viscosity of at least 40 cSt at
100°C; and
- (D) from about 3 to about 20 wt. %, based on the total weight of the lubricant composition,
of a gear additive package;
wherein the lubricant composition has a Viscosity Index of greater than 140.
