The electronic actuator is operative to control movement of a bolt assembly (88) between a sealing position in which it seals a firing chamber (36) for compressed gas, and an unsealing position in which the gas in the firing chamber (36) is released to launch a projectile from the gun. The electronic actuator may also move a flow valve (74) controlling communication between the firing chamber (36) and a source of compressed gas.
