(57) A magnetooptic recording medium has at least a recording layer (26) for recording data and a reproducing layer (30) for reproducing the data recorded in the recording layer onto a substrate. The data can be reproduced by setting a proper reproducing laser power upon reproduction. To improve a reproducing power margin, magnetizing directions of a buffer area (20), a sector address area (22), and a gap area (24) which are sandwiched between data areas (16-1, 16-2) in which the data is recorded are uniformly magnetized in the recording direction.
