Articulated gadget to hinder the entrance of water in buildings |
(57) This invention concerns a gadget to stagnate water in case of flooding and it is
essentially characterized by its two articulate plates (1) that form an angle between
them + 0° up to - 180°. Each plate is surrounded by a rubber outline (4) in at least
three sides; being tied together through at least two hinges (2) functioning as an
axis, allowing its articulations. It has at least an extendable / reducible element
of horizontal action (3) that, when activated, will alter the angle between the plates,
pressing the rubber of the sides against the doorposts. The extendable / reducible
elements (5) when activated will hinder the entrance of water through the pressure
of the gadget the doorposts.

[0001] This invention corresponds to a gadget that may be used in case of floods or to prevent
them in most part of the buildings.
[0002] We all know of the tragedy that almost every years affects waterside populations
because the rivers overflow or simply because it rains too much. Too many houses and
stores get flooded and there are too many damages and too little power to solve the
problem. This is a problem that happens more than often.
[0003] The known solutions as sand bags and others haven't proved effective. Other possible
solutions, apart from making it compulsory to change the façade of buildings they
are difficult to put in practice because the process might take to a long time.
[0004] To solve this problem we have created a gadget that is easy to assemble by anyone
and it doesn't ask for any changes in buildings.
[0005] For a better understanding of the description we present the drawings of the gadget
that we want to protect.
Figure 1 shows the gadget in a front position.
Figure 2 shows the gadget seen from above with the horizontal extension / reducer, applied
to function from the outside of the buildings.
Figure 3 shows the gadget also seen from above but with the horizontal extension / reducer
to function from the inside of the building.
[0006] As we can see this gadget is made of two impervious plates with a variable width
and height (1), to match the width and height of the place where they will be needed.
These plates will be placed between the doorposts and at the shop windows or other
existing openings.
[0007] These plates are surrounded in their limits at least in three sides with a rubber
outline (4) and are interconnected through two hinges (2) that, functioning as an
axis, will allow their articulation up to the maximum of 180°, after the activation
of one or more extendable / reducible elements (3). Thus, we will reach side imperviousness.
The extendable / reducible elements (5) activated and placed between the gadget and
lintel of a door will press the gadget against the threshold thus hindering the entrance
of water near the threshold.
[0008] The gadget presented in the pictures shall not be considered limitative either in
what concerns its specific functions or its form; we can develop other variables according
to the principles of angular opening between plates to be used according to the products
or places to be made impervious. This gadget can be used in traditional irrigation,
the division of spaces for animals, granaries for several products such as cereals,
olives, etc.
1. Removable articulated gadget to hinder the entrance of water in homes, shops or in
industries in case of flooding, characterized by having two articulated plates that form an angle between them superior to 0° and
inferior to 180°.
2. Removable articulated gadget to hinder the entrance of water in homes, shops or industries
in case of flooding, according to the previous claim, characterized by having at least one extendable / reducible element to provoke the angular opening
or closing between the plates.
3. Removable articulated gadget to hinder the entrance of water in homes, shops or in
industries in case of flooding, according to the previous claims, characterized by having at least two hinges functioning as an axis between the plates.
