(57) A panel (2) of wood having at least one substantially flat face (4a), to which is fitted an edge (8) having a periphery (12) crosswise to the face (4a), is machined by a tool (62) mounted for rotation about a longitudinal first axis (61), and which is moved along at least part of the periphery (12) by an actuating device (23, 29, 35) for moving the tool (62) both in two directions (7, 18) perpendicular to each other and parallel to the face (4a), and about a second axis (31) perpendicular to the two directions (7, 18).
