Supplementary play features can be implemented, such as a feature game played on a display (15), or a gamble feature or a mystery award or the like. After inserting coins to provide credit at least equal to a required stake value a press button (4) can be operated to initiate game play. Different start buttons (4) are provided, each relating to a different range of supplementary play features. The player can select the desired range of such features by operating the corresponding button (4), the correspondence between the buttons (4) and the ranges of the features being indicated on a display (18).
