(57) Protective helmet consisting of a hard shell (2) comprising a crown (3) that is essentially hemispherical in shape and two side sections (4a, 4b) extending from the edges of the crown (3). The helmet (1) additionally comprises at least one expandable liner (11) placed inside the hard shell (2) and forming at least one air-tight chamber (12); and means for inflation and deflation (13) of the chamber or chambers (12) mentioned above.
