(54) Base for furniture, in particular for kitchen furniture

(57) A baseboard for furniture, in particular for kitchen furniture, of the type comprising a structured base element equipped with rear hooking elements (13, 13') to feet (14) for a stable positioning, allowing it to be placed underneath a lower portion of a piece of furniture (12), wherein the baseboard comprises, in addition to a first structured base element (15), a connecting element (24) for a second structured base element (25) which can be moved parallelly between an aligned position behind the first structured base element (15) and a raised wedging position below said lower portion of said piece of furniture (12), there also being elastic elements (29) interacting between the two base elements and the connecting element, whose function is to keep the two base elements at a distance from each other.

Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a baseboard for furniture, in particular kitchen furniture.

[0002] In the field of kitchen furniture, particular elements are currently provided for refinishing and aesthetic purposes, once the kitchen has been assembled.

[0003] In this respect, for example, in the lower part equipped with feet for supporting the furniture itself, baseboards are provided for covering the space between the floor and lower part of the furniture.

[0004] With varying spaces between the floor or supporting surface and the furniture, the baseboard must obviously be able to be accurately fitted into the space for aesthetic reasons. This implies the production of made-to-measure baseboard elements, with costs which exceed those normally applied for this type of auxiliary element.

[0005] Furthermore, the measurement must be extremely accurate as the furniture would otherwise have an unacceptable appearance.

[0006] Baseboards can also be necessary for preventing objects or dirt from accumulating under the furniture creating evident problems.

[0007] An objective of the present invention is to produce a baseboard for furniture, in particular kitchen furniture, which solves all these drawbacks.

[0008] Another objective is to produce a baseboard for furniture which is particularly functional, can be rapidly assembled and at low costs.

[0009] A further objective is to produce a baseboard for furniture which does not have problems relating to the material of which it is made.

[0010] These objectives according to the present invention are achieved by the production of a baseboard for furniture as specified in claim 1.

[0011] The other claims define the additional characteristics of the present invention.

[0012] The characteristics and advantages of a baseboard for furniture according to the present invention will appear more evident from the following illustrative but non-limiting description, referring to the enclosed schematic drawings, in which:

figure 1 is a perspective view of part of a baseboard with exploded parts according to the invention,

figure 2 is a similar view to that of figure 1 assembled and partially opened,

figure 3 is a perspective view of a connecting element between the two sections showing the elastic portion in standby position,

figure 4 is a side section of the baseboard assembled on a leg underneath a lower part of a piece of furniture,

figure 5 is a front section of the baseboard assembled on a leg underneath a lower part of a piece of furniture,

figure 6 is an enlarged detail of the baseboard, as shown in figure 5, partially raised covering the space underneath the furniture in an operating position.

[0013] With reference to the figures, these illustrate a baseboard for furniture, in particular kitchen furniture, according to the invention, indicated as a whole with 11.

[0014] The baseboard 11 for furniture is placed in correspondence with a lower portion of a piece of furniture 12, constrained by means of hooking elements 13, for example omega-shaped elastic elements, to adjustable or non-adjustable column feet 14.

[0015] These hooking elements 13 are situated behind the baseboard 11 and can either be adjustable or non-adjustable.

[0016] The baseboard 11 for furniture comprises a first base element 15, such as an extruded product or a draw piece made for example of aluminum or light alloy, which is equipped with the above rear hooking elements 13 which slide in specific longitudinal grooves 16.

[0017] The first base element 15 is equipped below with a longitudinal hollow seat 17 for positioning by the insertion of a washer 18 or similar sealing element. Above said hollow seat 17, there is also a further longitudinal hollow seat 19 suitable for receiving a U-shaped connecting element 24. In particular, this hollow seat 19 has a knurling or similar processing 20 for blocking a ribbing 21, once inserted, which is also knurled 20, protruding from the connecting element 24.

[0018] This connecting element 24 joins a first base element 15 with a second base element 25, similar to the previous type. It can in fact either be an extruded product or a draw piece, for example made of aluminum or a light alloy.

[0019] This second base element 25 comprises an upper edge 26 suitable for being positioned underneath the lower portion of the piece of furniture 12.

[0020] Behind this second element 25, a ribbing 27 extends at right angles, which acts as a stop or run-end for said element 25 with respect to the connecting element 24 constrained to the first element 15.

[0021] It should be noted that the connecting element 24 is a printed element, for example made of Delrin or a similar material, which is placed behind the two base elements 15 and 25. It has a C-section which extends downwards in the ribbing 21, also knurled 20, forming a groove 23. Above the ribbing 21 there is in fact another protruding ribbing 22 which, together with the first ribbing 21, is situated above an upper ribbing 31 which forms the above hollow seat 19.

[0022] Above the ribbing 22, the connecting element 24 has a lamina-type elastic element 29 which extends towards an upper ribbing 28 and which can be bent downwards close to the ribbing 22, when subjected to stress by the lower surface of the ribbing 27 of the second element 25.

[0023] An end 29a of the elastic element 29 is the part which enters into contact with the lower surface of the ribbing 27 of the second element 25.

[0024] The connecting element 24 also has a pass-through opening 30 situated in the position in which the elastic element 29 is in standby position. In this way it can be activated from outside.

[0025] It should also be pointed out that the elastic element 29 has the function of keeping said two base elements 15 and 25 at a distance from each other, completely covering the space left between the lower portion of a piece of furniture 12 and the floor 10.

[0026] The novelty of the present invention is therefore perfectly evident.

[0027] It should also be noted that a baseboard for furniture 11 can be applied both in front and at the side of the piece of furniture as shown in figures 4 and 5 which illustrate the two applications. This avoids the use of angular positioning elements between the front and side base elements.

[0028] Figure 5 illustrates how said baseboard according to the invention can be placed to the side of the furniture due to the presence of hooking elements 13', for example U-shaped elastic elements, to the adjustable or non-adjustable column-type feet 14 of the piece of furniture.

[0029] Finally, figure 6 clearly shows the action for activating the baseboard according to the invention.

[0030] It can be seen in fact that the second base element 25 is raised and wedged below the lower portion of a piece of furniture 12 by contact of its upper edge 26.

[0031] This can be effected thanks to the presence of the connecting element 24, firmly fixed to the first base element 15, and also the end 29a of the elastic element 29 which comes into contact with the lower surface of the ribbing 27 of the second element 25 and which moves it upwards until it is stopped by the lower portion of a piece of furniture 12.

[0032] An almost telescopic or continuous regulation is, in fact, created, which makes the distance between the floor 10 and the lower portion of a piece of furniture 12 irrelevant.

[0033] According to the present invention, the baseboard for furniture thus formed rationalizes the various types and measurements, making the connection between the floor and furniture aesthetically acceptable and giving the furniture a well-finished general appearance.

[0034] It is therefore evident how this baseboard for furniture has an extremely simplified structure with respect to those so far known, with the enormous advantage of being able to be positioned in varying spaces.

[0035] It should also be observed that, according to the present invention, the baseboard for furniture is particularly easy to assemble and position and can be immediately adapted to a piece of furniture.

[0036] This solution also avoids the necessity of having numerous baseboards with different measurements in relation to the kitchen furniture to be installed.

[0037] Numerous modifications and variations can be applied to the baseboard for furniture thus conceived, all included in the innovative principle of the invention.

[0038] Furthermore, in practice, the materials used as also the dimensions and components can vary according to technical demands.
