PURPOSE OF THE INVENTION
[0001] This invention refers to a device by means of which it is possible to easily, simply
and rapidly suspend a picture or similar onto a wall or vertical facing, the device
being based on a wall attachment part, using screws, that has means that allow the
direct suspension of the picture to be carried out, or with the interposition of an
additional piece attached to the actual picture.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] At present, the manner of suspending pictures on facings is based on the use of two
separate parts, one of them, called a picture hook that is fixed to the corresponding
facing, and another called a hanger formed by a ring that, fixed to the corresponding
frame of the picture allows the introduction into it of the part of the hanger corresponding
to the wall hook, with the picture remaining suspended in this way.
[0003] This system, that is the most usual and known, requires on one hand the fixing of
a part to the frame of the picture, the part being usually attached using screws,
and on the other, the fixing of another part to the facing, that is also usually carried
out by screwing into a rawl plug placed for this purpose in said facing.
[0004] Other systems, that are even more complex, exist although they don't require the
insertion of rawl plugs for holding the wall hook in the facing, but rather by using
a simple steel pin the hanger part remains joined to the pin, allowing the suspension
of the picture, this latter always has the ring fixed to the picture frame. This solution
is only and exclusively intended for pictures of small weight, since if the latter
is high the system is undoubtedly invalid.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0005] The device that is proposed has been envisaged to allow the suspension of pictures
or similar onto a facing to be carried out, providing greater stability of the suspended
item and even greater ease when suspending or hanging the picture or similar item
concerned.
[0006] More specifically, the invention device is based on the use of a wall attachment
element, that is positioned with screws, and that has at its external end means that
can either directly form parts for the suspension of the picture, by simple pinning
or nailing of those means into the in-step which many pictures have for this purpose,
or in another case those means are intended to form a hooking element for a second
part attached to the actual picture. Furthermore, in another variant of the embodiment
the wall attachment part is fitted with a removable head, which carries the parts
for joining to another part fixed to the back of the picture or item to be suspended,
in this latter case those means being formed by tongue and groove joint elements.
[0007] The wall attachment part is formed by a shaft with a threaded section, for attachment
to the facing, while at the opposite end it finishes in a cross with its ends perpendicularly
bent to form a "U" shape in which the side branches have their ends pointed, permitting
that these latter can be nailed lightly onto a step made for this purpose in the back
side of the picture, thus remaining perfectly suspended.
[0008] In a variant of the embodiment, the aforementioned "U" shape has horizontal sections
between the traverse branch and the vertical pointed branches, allowing a fixed separation
between the picture and the facing to be established, for those cases in which this
is required.
[0009] In the case that the picture or item to be suspended doesn't have the stepped part
for pinning the pointed parts of the wall attachment part, then the device is supplemented
with an auxiliary part onto which the pointed branches of the wall attachment part
precisely hooks, so that said auxiliary part will have two holes or openings, for
hooking the two pointed branches.
[0010] In another alternative of the embodiment, the threaded shaft for attachment to the
facing finishes at its front end in a traverse branch with a single pointed section,
traverse and central to it, that will be supplemented with another part or shaft for
attachment to the picture, and that also finishes at its front end in another traverse
branch in this case having a hole, so that the pointed section of the part for attachment
to the facing lodges in the hole of the traverse and horizontal branch of the part
attached to the picture; all of this so that when both parts are fixed, one to the
wall and another to the picture, with their horizontal branches, on hanging the picture
it will always remain horizontal although its centre of gravity stays slightly displaced
with respect to the hole and to the pointed part.
[0011] In another variant of the embodiment, the wall attachment part has its end fitted
with a threaded shaft in which a head fitted with means of joining by tongue and groove
onto a metal sheet or piece conveniently attached to the back of the picture or item
to be suspended, is interchangeably mounted. The metal strip will have openings in
which twin arms, from the interchangeable head previously referred to, are housed.
[0012] It is also necessary to emphasise the fact that both the wall attachment parts in
the case of branches that finish with a pointed shape, and in the auxiliary parts
that are required in certain cases for their hooking, will have cross in-cuts or slots
so that, using an appropriate implement the attachment by screwing of the part in
question may be carried out; also having, in the intersection part between the "U"
shape corresponding to the pointed branches and the shaft to be screwed or attached
to the wall, widened areas or narrowings that set a limit-stop of maximum penetration
by the part in the facing, and thus leaving a definite separation between the "U"
shape of that wall attachment part and the actual facing to allow the hanging by suspension
of the picture properly speaking.

PREFERABLE EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
[0014] In view of the figures described and especially in view of Figure 1, it can be seen
how the device of the invention consists of a wall attachment part (1) with a threaded
section (2) for attaching to the corresponding wall (3), as is shown in Figure 2,
while the near end of the wall attachment unit (1) has a traverse branch (4) bent
at its ends forming pointed and vertical branches (5), so that the suspension of a
picture (6) can be carried out in the way depicted in Figure 2, that is that once
the part (1) that makes up the device is attached to the wall (3), it will be necessary
only to place the picture (6) and the pointed ends of the branches (5) to be pinned
into the step (7) formed from an in-step which the back part of the picture (6) has
for this purpose.
[0015] In a variant of the embodiment, the part (1) has horizontal sections (4') between
the traverse branch and the vertical pointed branches (5) forming a separating medium
between the wall and the corresponding picture (6') to be suspended, as is shown in
Figure 4, so that in this case the picture in question has a step or in-step (7')
of greater depth than the in-step (7) shown in Figure 2.
[0016] The wall attachment part (1) referred to, has a narrowing (8) in the intersection
between its shaft and the traverse branch (4) forming a limit-stop of maximum penetration
of said part (1) into the facing (3), in order to leave a space so that the branches
(5) stay slightly separated from the facing and that the suspension of the picture
or item to be hung may be carried out.
[0017] Likewise, in the central area of the traverse branch (4) an cross in-cut or a simple
slot has been planned so that by using an appropriate implement the clamping procedure
and corresponding screwing of the part (1) onto the facing or wall (3) can be carried
out.
[0018] In a variant of the embodiment to that shown in Figures 1 and 2, as is shown in Figure
5, the wall attachment (1) is supplemented by an auxiliary part (10) for its attachment
at the back part of the picture, when this lacks the step at the back. That auxiliary
part (10) has the threaded shaft (11) and a traverse branch (4'), this being fitted
with two holes or accesses (11 ') for the hooking of the pointed branches (5) of the
part (1).
[0019] In another variant of the embodiment different from that shown in the figures 1,
2 and 5, the traverse branch (4) of the shaft (1) with its corresponding threaded
section (2), instead of having two pointed branches, as in the previous cases, will
have a single pointed and central branch (5') intended to be housed in a hole (11')
corresponding to the traverse branch (4') of the auxiliary part (10) with its threaded
section (11) for attachment to the picture; all so that if this auxiliary part (10)
is attached by screwing onto the back part of the picture, its traverse branch (4')
remaining horizontally positioned, if the part (1) is attached to the facing, with
its branch (4) also horizontally positioned, the introduction of the pointed branch
(5') of said part (1) in the hole (11') of the auxiliary part allows the picture to
be suspended perfectly horizontally, even in the case that a correct coincidence of
the centre of gravity with regard to the hole and to the pointed branch doesn't exist.
This variant of the embodiment described is that shown in Figure 6.
[0020] In another variant of the embodiment, shown in Figure 7, the wall attachment part
(1') has its corresponding section threaded (2 ') for attachment to the facing, since
at its fore end it has a threaded axial appendix (12) onto which a head (13) is interchangeably
fitted which has a slot or similar (14), so that by using an appropriate implement
the attachment with screws of said head (13) onto the threaded appendix (12) of the
wall attachment part (1') can be carried out. Said head (13) has a pair of arms (15)
lengthened and having a thickened area (16); arms (15) intended to be lodged in corresponding
holes (17) formed for this purpose in a piece or metal strip (18) conveniently attached
onto the back part of the picture or item to be suspended, so that this, being the
bearer of that piece or metal strip (18) with the holes (17), can be hung simply by
inserting the arms (16) of the head (13) into the holes (17) referred to, prior to
attachment of the part (1') to the facing or wall.
[0021] The head (13) is interchangeable so that it always adapts to the width or separation
between the holes (17), with the particularity that the narrowings (16) of the arms
(15) corresponding to the head (13) allow a better securing between said head (13)
and the metal strip or piece (18).
