[0001] A back-lighted, dynamic, multi-purpose advertisement medium, with a one-way wraparound
device, the final images of which are formed based on image portions.
Object of the Invention
[0002] The present invention refers to a back-lighted, dynamic, multi-purpose advertisement
medium, with a one-way wraparound device, the final images of which are formed based
on image portions, intended for advertising and to offer advertisers more room, in
the sense of enlarging the message they wish to convey to the consumer, with the certainty
of it being able to be displayed 24 hours a day regardless of the size of the final
image.
[0003] More specifically, the present invention refers a combined system of blocks symmetrical
to each other, carriers of back-lighted image portions which, when simultaneously
displayed by an electric motor, form a mosaic with final images for a period of time
controlled by a timer.
Background of the Invention
[0004] In the state of the art, and with relation to that disclosed above, US patents US
1,809,378, US 1, 928, 012, US 1,966,634, and US 1,993,339 are known, which have as
a common drawback the system for installing and changing the messages which are going
to be displayed, since at the very least this is complicated and arduous as the arrangement
of the free rollers has not been solved, thereby having a considerably large side
width, and that to increase the number of messages the former would have to be oversized
which would make them unfeasible.
[0005] With regard to US patent US 1,966,634, the winding of the images technically gives
rise to folds when it moves over the rollers, essentially due to the diameter of the
neutral fiber, which varies as a function of the band moving on the inside or the
outside of the rollers, in addition to the back-lighting drawback not having been
solved.
[0006] Wraparound media, with or without back-lighting, are also known having, in the case
of former, the drawback of the size limit, as the display surface is directly proportional
to the distance it must travel until the whole image appears.
[0007] On the other hand, there are the vehicles carrying wraparound and illuminated advertisements
having as a main drawback that said vehicles cannot be used for any purpose other
than carrying advertisements.
[0008] Nevertheless, the present invention exceedingly solves the aforementioned problems,
as will be read below.
Description of the Invention
[0009] The back-lighted, dynamic, multi-purpose advertisement medium, with a one-way wraparound
device, the final images of which are formed based on image portions, proposed by
the invention, constitutes a remarkable advance in the evolution of back-lighted and
wraparound advertisement media, offering an extraordinary installation simplicity
with the ensuing and direct repercussion this brings about, lowering the advertising
costs for advertisers, as well as their low maintenance cost.
[0010] More specifically, the back-lighted, dynamic, multi-purpose advertisement medium,
with one-way rotation device, the final images of which are formed based on image
portions, proposed by the invention consists of a main metal structure, which is formed
by four rectangular tubes joined to each other except on one side, which will be called
left side, with sliding parts, which has on its upper and lower portions two threaded
worm shafts provided with pinions, both driven by a chain that will receive a rotational
motion by crank or motor, having as a purpose the final closing of the main metal
structure, hereafter metal container medium, all of it being rectangular-shaped, the
bottom of which is closed by a metal plate, hereafter metal bottom, behind which all
the electrical systems are going to be housed, all of it covered by different inspection
covers so as to being capable of accessing all the electrical wiring.
[0011] The metal bottom has had a series of brackets added, hereafter male couplings, as
well as strategically arranged male electric connectors.
[0012] An electric motor provided with an on/off timer with an electric brake has been coupled
on the other side of the metal container medium, hereafter right side, said motor
is provided with a cogwheel which will provide motion to a chain which will make other
cogwheels rotate, closely linked to a series of fixed lineshaft portions, hereafter
fixed shafts, the opposite ends of which are shaped as prisms, the minor bases of
which have two major sides forming rectangles and their minor sides are semicircular
having as an axis of these the center of the base of the prism.
[0013] More specifically, the fixed shafts exit from the right side of the metal container
medium, entering through the right sides of rectangular boxes, hereafter blocks, absolutely
independent from each other (with the exception of the shafts connecting them), receiving
the fixed shafts in a solid cylindrical piece from the ends of which two concentric
extensions exit, formed by two prisms shaped as circular segments having a diameter
equivalent to the inner diameter of bushings or hubs of an antifriction material,
the outer diameter of which will always be smaller than the inner diameter of said
solid cylindrical piece, strategically and closely arranged on two metal plates by
the right and left inner faces on the block sides. Said solid cylindrical piece, hereafter
pinch roll, consists of a solid metal web that receives the motion from the lineshafts,
and another one that lines it with a non-metal material, this latter one having ribs
on the circular perimeter of both ends, which when rotating will drag an endless non-resilient
strip of a flexible and clear material, hereafter endless clear strip, with holes
at both sides of said strip and along its whole length, which will gear with the aforementioned
ribs.
[0014] The endless clear strip is being folded by free rollers, some of which will be fixedly
arranged and others variably or adjustably arranged according to the total length
of the endless clear strip. These free rollers will carry rectangular metal pieces
having a length equivalent to the length of the free rollers, with a thickness slightly
smaller than the diameter of the free rollers, coupling to the latter on both ends
and/or different locations around the length of the free rollers by means' of couplers
that allow rotation of the free rollers, to prevent that, due to the length of the
free rollers, the latter bend by the traction of the endless clear strip, it being
possible to increase the length of the endless clear strip without having to oversize
the metal container medium. These free rollers will have threaded bores on their ends
and on both faces. Therefore, the assembly of free rollers with the rectangular metal
pieces will be called hereafter free rollers.
[0015] This endless clear strip will be coupled to flexible sheets printed by any means,
hereafter image portions, which will cover the endless clear strip from side to side,
having a width equivalent to the height of the image portion which is going to be
displayed on the front of the block, said image portions will be attached to the endless
clear strip by couplings strategically arranged on the upper portion of the image
portion, allowing for the joint displacement of the endless clear strip and the image
portions, always upwards.
[0016] Specifically, within the wraparound, in the rear portion of the endless clear strip
with the image portions, and closer to the front portion of the blocks, they will
have a white-lacquered and curved metal sheet, hereafter light diffuser, which carrying
illumination, such as fluorescent bulbs, the electric connection of which has been
arranged in the shape of a female electric connector, will project its light on the
inside face of the endless clear strip with the image portion, allowing to see the
image portion illuminated from its frontal portion.
[0017] More specifically, free rollers of a clear material have been coupled on each of
the upper and lower portions of the light diffuser so that no semi-darkness areas
may exist when displaying the image portion on the frontal portion.
[0018] The fixed free rollers will provide strength to the frame of the blocks, which will
be aligned and in position for transversely receiving the endless clear strip, being
permanently attached to the two block side metal sheets by countersunk head screws.
It must be noted that the distance between fixed free rollers is equivalent to the
diameter of the variable- or adjustable-setting free rollers and 1/4 more, to allow
the passage of the variable- or adjustable-setting rollers while they are carrying
along the endless clear strip with the image portions until reaching their definitive,
adjusted position, i.e. the endless clear strip and image portions being sufficiently
taut. The clear, fixed free rollers of the light diffuser will be included in this
fixed free roller assembly (due to the type of setting). All the fixed free rollers
will be permanently attached by countersunk head screws.
[0019] The variable- or adjustable-setting free rollers have this state because they are
attached to the two block side metal sheets, having a number of vertical slots equivalent
to however many variable free rollers there are, said vertical slots being countersunk
to house the countersunk head screws which will finally attach the variable or adjustable
free rollers as the latter shift, carrying, as they move, the endless clear strip,
wrapping and tautening it, at that moment carrying out the screwdown of the countersunk
head screws of the variable or adjustable free rollers.
[0020] To prevent any type of outer projection that may increase the distance between blocks
and consequently the distance between image portion from occurring, countersunk head
screws will be used for both the fixed free rollers and the variable or adjustable
free rollers , substantially enhancing the final whole image display.
[0021] The blocks will be covered by a box of non-metallic clear material with an antireflective
treatment, hereafter clear box, except for the closing rear portion, which will have
a metal closing lid.
[0022] The clear boxes will have circular holes for introducing the lineshafts, and other
countersunk holes. The metal closing lids will be finally attached thereto by countersunk
head screws.
[0023] More specifically, the metal closing lid has the same dimensions as the rectangular
perimeter of the clear box front portion and has the role of attaching the block to
the metal bottom by means of making the metal bottom male couplings coincide with
metal bridges or rectangular holes symmetrically and strategically arranged on the
outer face of the metal closing lid, so that with a simple push to and a shifting
movement to the right of the block, the left side being open with sliding parts, the
latter couples to the metal bottom as the lineshafts start gearing.
[0024] The metal closing lid houses the female electric connector from which the electric
cables will exit, said electric cables are imbedded in a recess made on the right
metal sheet over the antifriction bushing or hub so as to not decrease the endless
clear strip width dimensions, and the image portions it carries reaching up to a male
electric connector. This metal closing lid has had a sheet of non-metallic material
incorporated to prevent the image portion carried by the endless clear strip from
sliding down, as it is not attached by its lower portion.
[0025] The block assembly will have a sequential, rotational motion transmitted to it by
means of shaft portions, so that half of each shaft portion is inserted in a block
and the other half in another one until completion of the final whole image with all
the blocks, the resulting half of shaft portions being inserted in antifriction bushings
or hubs arranged on the left side with sliding parts, thus carrying out the final
closing of the container medium.
[0026] The present invention is intended for continuously displaying images, i.e. that the
sum of the image portions forming a firstly projected final whole image will be projected
again after the last one is projected, thus being capable of being used so that the
advertiser of a certain product may show more messages about the same product and/or
accommodate more advertisers.
[0027] Its multipurposefulness comes from having the chance of placing it in different spaces,
such as a football stadium, using the perimeter at the foot of the stands, sports
centers, also using the stand perimeter, as well as certain areas of the parquet floor
where play occurs, perfectly imbedded and aligned so that no tripping with the medium
may occur while standing on it, at subway, train, and bus stations and ' airports;
on public transport using the sides and rear of buses, roof hoods on taxi cabs, interior
of subway and railway trains; road transport of goods, on vans, semis, rigid or articulated
trucks, both on the sides and rear of said vehicles. On all kinds of street furniture,
on buildings, the party walls of which are exposed, considerably enhancing their look,
using standard panels already arranged, providing the latter ones with the necessary
and sufficient mechanisms to actuate the blocks.
