(54) Package for pizzas

(57) A package for pizzas, of the box type made of cardboard or the like, is originally provided with at least an opening or window (2) cut on the package (1) and closed with a transparent film (3) through which at least a partial vision of the pizza contained in the package (1) is possible.
The film (3) is an antifog film, technically also known as "antifog", applied from the exterior or from the interior on the window, preferably with adhesive substances.

Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a package for pizzas, of the box type, made of cardboard or the like, in particular for frozen pizzas.

[0002] Rigid box-like packages for food products of various types are known.

[0003] In particular pizzas, be they frozen and sold from the frozen foods counters of retail stores, or be they take-away pizzas sold directly when hot from pizzerias, are normally packaged in closed cardboard boxes.

[0004] In take-away pizzas, the package is normally not very carefully designed and rather anonymous, whilst frozen pizzas are normally enclosed in particularly attractive packages that bear on their outer surface the image of the pizza contained therein.

[0005] Both packages, however, generally lack any opening through which one could directly view the product contained therein.

[0006] This entails the fact that, particularly with frozen pizzas, the consumer oftentimes realises only at the time of its consumption that the pizza is in fact markedly different from the one imagined from the reproduction shown on the package.

[0007] In the case of take-away pizzas, it is often necessary to distribute different pizzas to different people and this can only be done after opening the individual packages to verify the type of pizzas contained therein.

[0008] There an additional type of package of frozen pizzas provided with a hole through which the product can be viewed.

[0009] However, said hole is rather small and does not allow a clear vision of the product contained in the package, but above all it lacks any kind of protective barrier and therefore is not suitable to prevent a direct contact between the content of the package and the external environment.

[0010] An aim of the present invention is to eliminate the aforesaid drawbacks and to make available a package for pizzas that is so shaped as to allow to see the pizza contained therein, protecting the content of the package against contact with the external environment.

[0011] An additional aim is to avoid fogging, both in the case of take-away and frozen pizzas, which may prevent viewing the pizza, for instance through a window.

[0012] Said aims are fully achieved by the package for pizzas of the present invention, which is characterised by the content of the claims set out below and in particular in that it is provided with at least an opening or window carved on the package and closed with a transparent film through which at least a partial vision of the pizza contained in the package is possible.

[0013] The window is preferably closed with a film, technically called "antifog", applied externally or internally, for instance by means of adhesive substances.

[0014] This and other features shall become more readily apparent from the description that follows of a preferred embodiment, illustrated purely by way of non limiting example in the accompanying drawing table in which:
  • Figure 1 shows a front view of the package;
  • Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the package.

[0015] With reference to the figure, the reference number 1 globally indicates a package for pizzas, of the box type made of cardboard or the like, of parallelepiped shape with nearly square cross section. The height of the package is a few cm.

[0016] The package originally comprises an opening or window 2 carved on the package and closed with a transparent film of the anti-fogging type, technically also known as "antifog".

[0017] The film 3 can be applied from the exterior or from the interior to the window 2, for instance by means of suitable adhesive substances.

[0018] The film 3 allows to view the pizza contained in the package preventing the formation of fogging on the film, due to condensation or liquefaction (i.e. to the passage of a gas to the liquid state as a result of cooling or exposure to different temperatures) which can occur both in the case of take-away pizzas packaged still hot straight out of the oven, and in the case of frozen pizzas.

[0019] As shown in the figures, the window 2 is originally obtained by subtracting from a substantially elliptical or oval shape the intersection with a substantially circular shape, but it can also another shape.

[0020] Multiple windows can also be provided in the same package.

[0021] The package 1 is also provided with a strap 4 for a facilitated tear-off opening of the package.

Claims

1. Package for pizza, of the box type made of cardboard or the like, characterised in that it is provided with at least an opening or window (2) carved on the package (1) and closed with a transparent film (3) through which at least a partial vision of the pizza contained in the package (1) is possible.

2. Package as claimed in claim 1, wherein the window (2) is closed with an anti-fog film (3), technically called "antifog".

3. Package as claimed in claim 2, wherein the film (3) is applied externally on the opening (2) carved on the package (1).

4. Package as claimed in claim 2, wherein the film (3) is applied internally on the opening (2) carved on the package (1).

5. Package as claimed in claims 3 or 4, wherein the film (3) is applied by means of adhesive substances.

6. Package as claimed in any of the previous claims, wherein a strap (4) is present for a facilitated tear-off opening of the package (1).

7. Package as claimed in claim 1, wherein the window (2) is obtained by subtracting from a substantially elliptical or oval shape the intersection with a substantially circular shape.
