(54) Tumble dryer

(57) A tumble dryer has a drum 1 mounted in a cabinet 2, the drum having an opening 3 through which the drum is loaded and which is closed by a door (now shown) in use. Heated air enters the drum at the rear via opening 8 under the propulsion of a blowing fan 5, and cooler moist air leaves the front of the drum and is fed to a duct 10 to be led to the rear of the dryer to be exhausted, for example, to the atmosphere. According to the invention, a cyclone separator 11 is provided into which the drying air leaving the drum is fed tangentially. A further sucking fan 15 is provided to increase the velocity of the moist air entering the cyclone separator. Fluff build-up in the cyclone separator can be disposed of periodically by undoing a cap 14.
