[0001] The present invention refers to a device intended for washing elongated delicate
garments, particularly ties.
[0002] For washing certain delicate garments such as ties, there are significant difficulties
for the application of domestic-scale conventional washing methods. To do so, said
garments are normally sent to laundries which can carry out said task, although their
cost is significantly high since, in the case of ties, washing in many cases comprises
the unstitching thereof, washing the piece and subsequent reassembly of the tie.
[0003] The objective of the present invention consists of providing means so that said washing
operation of elongated delicate garments such as ties, for example, can be carried
out on a domestic scale.
[0004] To achieve its objectives, the present invention provides a very simplistic and effective
device which permits washing the ties in a domestic washing machine, permitting carrying
out its washing and recovering the tie after the washing in a smooth and unwrinkled
condition, which permits its immediate new use or, in any case, after light ironing.
[0005] The device object of the present invention essentially comprises a laminar element
with a certain thickness so as to better support the garment, provided with openings,
for example, of a porous and/or spongy nature, adopting an elongated form with a length
and width slightly larger than those of the ties to be washed. Said device is provided
in its middle area with a transversal through opening, preferably with reinforced
edges, intended for permitting passage of the tie, passing through the laminar support
through said opening and being arranged such that it is adapted to one of the halves
of said laminar element on both sides. The subsequent folding of the second half of
the device permits completely covering the tie on both sides thereof, permitting,
next the rolling up of the device internally comprising the tie to be washed and closing
the device by means of conventional means such as adhesive-type strips of the hook
and eye type and a transversal strip intended for permitting stabilization of the
device with the tie to be washed in the form of a parcel with small dimensions which
can be introduced in a domestic washing machine. Given the features of the device,
the tie washing operation will not have any type of mechanical operations on the tie
causing any type of wrinkles, therefore, after the washing and eventual centrifuge
drying or another type of drying, the tie can be recovered by means of unrolling the
device, disassembling the tie from the device. The gentle handling of the tie will
permit recovering it without any type of wrinkles, therefore it can be used directly
or after light ironing.
[0006] To better understand the invention, several drawings are attached as an illustrative
and non-limiting example, which drawings show a preferred embodiment of the present
invention.
Figures 1, 2 and 3 show respective frontal, side elevational and rear views of the
device object of the present invention in an unfolded position.
Figure 4 shows a perspective view which shows the tie coupling operation in the device.
Figures 5 and 6 show respective schematic views according to a side elevational view
and a plan view, showing the placement of the tie in the device.
Figure 7 shows a perspective view representing the rolling operation.
Figures 8 and 9 shows respective views of the parcel formed with the device object
of the present invention once the tie is arranged on the inside thereof.
Figure 10 shows a schematic representation of the manner of placing the device inside
a domestic washing machine.
[0007] As can be seen in the figures, the device object of the present invention comprises
an elongated laminar element 1 with a length and width slightly larger than the length
of the garment, especially that of the tie to be washed, said device being constituted
of a material with openings, for example, a spongy synthetic-type material, or another
sufficiently porous-type material so as to permit the washing liquids to pass through,
such as felt, a laminar support provided with multiple perforations, etc. The laminar
element 1 is provided with an opening 2 approximately in its middle area for introducing
the tie, which opening preferably has reinforced edges, for example, by means of laminar
elements 3 and 4 fixed by sewing on or other means.
[0008] As can be understood, the materials for carrying out laminar element 1 could vary
greatly, in all cases comprising the essential features of its laminar structure and
nature such that it permits the passage through of the washing liquids of the type
used, for example, in a domestic washing machine or the like.
[0009] Arrangement of the tie on the device of the invention can be seen in figures 4 to
6, noting that the tie 5 is introduced through the opening 2, forming two branches
indicated with numbers 5' and 5'', respectively arranged one on each one of the sides
of one of the branches, for example 1' of the device 1. Said device 1 will be subsequently
folded, as can be seen in figure 4, constituting a second branch 1'' such that branch
5" of the tie will be comprised between branches 1' and 1'' of the device once folded.
The arrangement is shown in figures 4 and 5. After placing the tie as shown, the device
1 is then rolled up, as shown in figure 7, finally constituting a roll or small parcel,
as shown in figures 8 and 9.
[0010] For holding the two branches 1' and 1'' of the device 1 in place, any type of suitable
fixing device will be adopted, for example, the arrangement of strips 6 and 7, respectively,
on both sides of one of the branches of the device, for example, branch 1', such that
once the rolling up is carried out, said areas can be joined together as shown in
figure 8. To stabilize the device after rolling it up, any suitable type of element
could be used, such as a transversal strip 8 provided with any fixing element on its
ends, such as compatible hook and eye areas, or any other device which permits holding
the roll, as shown in figures 8 and 9, forming a small parcel which can be easily
introduced through the opening 9 of a domestic washing machine.
[0011] After washing and drying, the parcel formed by the device object of the invention
and the tie is unrolled, recovering the latter, which could be used directly or eventually
after light ironing.
[0012] As can be understood, multiple variations could be introduced in the invention in
the material of the washing device, in the specific shape thereof, as well as in the
device support elements so as to permit its washing handling. Thus, for example, the
laminar device can have the rectangular shape shown or another essentially elongated,
similar shape serving as a support for the tie or other elongated garment, preventing
deformations therein, eventually being able to adopt an edge shape which is more adapted
to the precise shape of the garment. As is evident, the material of the device could
also vary greatly on the proviso that it permits the support of the tie or other similar
elongated garment and the passage of washing liquids.
[0013] All that which does not affect, alter, change or modify the essence of the described
device will be variable for the purposes of the present invention.
