(57) A heat exchanger tube (10) has opposed open ends, at least one of the open ends being provided with an insert (1) having insert limb (2,3) extending into the tube (10) adjacent a longitudinal edge (11,12) of the tube (10). The invention provides that the tube (10) is locally reinforced in a region which is prone to fatigue failure particularly in thermal shock cycling.
