BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a device for locking and releasing an operating
lever of a hair ironing plate or implement.
[0002] The invention provides a very high technical advance in the field of the hair ironing
implements and plates, for domestic and professional use.
[0003] As is known, conventional hair ironing devices have a scissors configuration, having
a handle including a lever which, as operated by a hand of an user, allows to modulate
the pressure of the thermal part of the ironing plate or implement, to provide the
user hair with a desired shape.
[0004] As the hair ironing device is not used, the portion of the handle including the lever
is held in an open or movable condition.
[0005] In prior art hair ironing devices, the closure is performed, conventionally, by a
clamping system including a plurality of ring elements or hook elements which, however,
provide an unsatisfactory result, from a functional and an aesthetic standpoint.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0006] Accordingly, the aim of the present invention is to provide such a device for locking
and releasing the operating lever applied to a hair ironing plate or implement, overcoming
the above mentioned drawbacks affecting the prior art.
[0007] According to one aspect of the present invention, the above mentioned aim, as well
as yet other objects, which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by
a device for locking and releasing an operating lever applied to a hair ironing plate
or implement, characterized in that said device comprises a ring nut including a ridge,
and a cylindric recess formed in a body of the implement base or plate, with a ridge,
said ridge being so arranged and designed that the ridge of the ring nut, at a given
position thereof, corresponds with the ridge provided on the end portion of the operating
lever, to lock or hinder any outward directed movement of said lever.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0008] Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become more
apparent hereinafter from the following detailed disclosure of a preferred, though
not exclusive, embodiment of the invention, which is illustrated, by way of an indicative,
but not limitative example, in the accompanying drawings, where:
Figures 1 and 2 are perspective view illustrating an end portion of the hair ironing
device handle, in a closed condition thereof, and including a cable inlet for power
supplying the device.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0009] With reference to the number references of the above mentioned figures, the hair
ironing device according to the present invention, comprises a ring nut having a ring
nut ridge and a recess formed in the body of the base of the hair ironing implement
or plate, including a corresponding ridge, spaced from the first mentioned ridge,
so that, at a given position, the ring nut ridge will correspond to the ridge provided
on the end portion of the operating lever, to lock or hinder any outward directed
movement.
[0010] Figures 1 and 2 of the drawings show two perspective views of the end portion of
the handle C, including a cable inlet for power supplying the device.
[0011] The body B is so designed as to house therein the ring nut A and being provided with
a cylindric slot.
[0012] Said body, more specifically, comprises a corresponding recess providing a cut-out
for easily assembling the two half-shells forming the handle body.
[0013] The ring nut A comprises a ridge or lug A1, having a lunette shape, which engages,
by overlapping thereon, with the corresponding ridge B1 of the end portion of the
operating lever D.
[0014] The outer portion of the ring nut has an elliptic configuration, or any other suitable
shape, provided that the inner portion thereof is cylindric, for allowing the required
rotary movement, to properly lock and release the lever.
[0015] In order to improve the device, a further ridge B2 for better locating the ring nut
in its seat has been moreover provided.
[0016] It has been found that the invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects.
[0017] In fact, the invention provides a device for locking or releasing an operating lever
applied to a hair ironing plate or implement, overcoming the above mentioned drawbacks
of the prior art.
[0018] In practicing the invention, the used materials, as well as the contingent size and
shapes of the parts constituting the inventive device can be any according to requirements
and the status of the art.
1. A device for locking and releasing an operating lever applied to a hair ironing plate
or implement, characterized in that said locking and releasing device comprises a ring nut having a ridge, a cylindric
seat formed in a body of the base of said implement or plate, said ridge of said ring
nut corresponding, at a given position thereof, to the ridge formed on the end portion
of the lever, to lock any outward directed movement of said lever.
2. A device, according to claim 1, characterized in that said device further comprises an outer portion having an elliptic configuration or
any other configuration mating that of said locking and releasing device.
3. A device, according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that said device comprises a ridge having a specifically designed configuration.
4. A device, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said device has a body designed for housing therein said ring nut, through a dedicated
seat, and that it comprises a cylindric slot.
5. A device for locking and releasing an operating lever applied to a hair ironing plate
or implement, characterized in that said device comprises a body having a corresponding recess and providing a cut-out
for facilitating the assembly of the two shells of the handle body.
6. A device, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said ring nut comprises a ridge having a lunette shape, adapted to be engaged, in
an overlapping relationship, with a corresponding ridge formed on an end portion of
the operating lever.
7. A device, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said ring nut has an outer part having an elliptic configuration or any other suitable
configuration, the inner part thereof being cylindric to allow a rotary movement as
required for locking and releasing said operating lever.
