BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a plug construction, specifically designed for application
to adhesive holding casings.
[0002] As is known, there are available on the market adhesive holding casings, the so called
"sticks", which contain therein adhesive materials in a solid or paste status, said
sticks being primarily used in office applications.
[0003] Said casings have a cylindrical configuration and conventionally comprise a top plug
and a bottom ring-nut, which is rotated for causing the adhesive material to progressively
project from the casing, for its application.
[0004] For using the adhesive material casing, it is necessary to remove therefrom a protective
and closing plug which, as the adhesive material is not used, prevent said adhesive
material from being dried upon contacting air, thereby losing its adhesive properties.
[0005] Prior adhesive material casings or sticks are affected by the drawback that they
are provided with removable caps which, upon removal, must be held in a hand, or supported
on a table surface or other supporting element, and this, frequently, at a place remote
from the adhesive application place, typically for sealing envelopes or the like.
[0006] Thus, frequently an user can lose the casing plug, thereby leaving the adhesive material
casing free of its covering plug, with the consequence that the adhesive properties
of the adhesive material are negatively affected.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0007] Accordingly, the aim of the present invention is to provide such a plug construction
specifically designed for overcoming the above mentioned drawbacks affecting prior
adhesive casings or sticks.
[0008] Within the scope of the above mentioned aim, a main object of the present invention
is to provide such a plug construction which can be always held in a ready for use
condition, without hindering the glueing operations.
[0009] Another object of the invention is to provide such a plug construction which can
be made by using available materials and apparatus.
[0010] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide such a plug construction
which is very competitive from a mere economic standpoint.
[0011] According to one aspect of the present invention, the above mentioned aim and objects,
as well as yet other objects, which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved
by a plug construction, for application to adhesive material holding casings, characterized
in that said plug construction comprises removable latching means, for removably latching
the plug construction to a bottom ring-nut element of an adhesive material containing
casing.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0012] Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become more
apparent hereinafter from the following detailed disclosure of a preferred, though
not exclusive, embodiment of the invention, which is illustrated, by way of an indicative
but not limitative example, in the accompanying drawings, where:
Figure 1 is a side elevation view of an adhesive material casing or stick including
the plug construction according to the present invention, shown in a closed condition
thereof;
Figure 2 is a further side elevation view, as partially cross-sectioned, of an adhesive
casing or stick, including that same plug construction, shown in its open condition;
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the casing-plug assembly, with the plug being shown
in a closure condition thereof;
Figure 5 is a further perspective view of the casing-plug assembly, the plug being
shown in an opened position thereof; and
Figure 5 is an exploded perspective view of the casing-plug assembly according to
the invention.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0013] With reference to the number references of the above mentioned figures, the plug
construction, according to the present invention, which has been generally indicated
by the reference number 1, has been specifically designed for application to an adhesive
material casing or stick 2, comprising a cylindrical hollow casing body, for holding
therein an adhesive material 3, in a paste or solid condition.
[0014] The casing 2 comprises, at the bottom thereof, a hollow ring-nut 4 which can be rotated
for causing a screw element, not shown, to affect the adhesive material 3 to cause
the latter to exit from the top of the casing.
[0015] As shown, the ring-nut 4 is provided with an inner cylindrical seat or recess 5,
possibly provided with longitudinal ridges 6.
[0016] At the top thereof, the cylindrical body 2 comprises a cylindrical cut-out 7 including
a ring-like ridge 8, thereby firmly and removably receiving the plug 1.
[0017] According to the invention, the plug 1 comprises, at the top thereof, a cylindrical
portion 11 which has a diameter similar to that of the cylindrical inner seat or recess
5 of the ring-nut 4, thereby, upon removing the plug 1 from the top of the casing,
said cylindrical portion 11 can be engaged in the inner cylindrical seat 5 to removably
connect the plug 1 to the bottom ring-nut 4.
[0018] Thus, it is possible to conventionally use the adhesive casing for performing any
desired glueing operation, while holding its plug connected thereto.
[0019] It has been found that the invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects.
[0020] In fact, the invention provides a plug construction which is always held connected
to its casing, even in the operating condition of the latter, without preventing the
casing from being properly used.
[0021] In particular, upon ending the glueing operation, the plug can be removed from the
ring-nut and applied to the top of the casing to reclose it.
[0022] In practicing the invention, the used materials, as well as the contingent size and
shapes, can be any, depending on requirements and the status of the art.
1. A plug construction, specifically designed for application to adhesive material holding
casings, characterized in that said plug construction comprises removable latching means for removably latching
said plug construction to a bottom ring-nut element of the adhesive holding casing.
2. A plug construction, according to Claim 1, characterized in that said casing comprises a casing cylindrical hollow body, for holding therein an adhesive
material, in a paste or solid condition, and comprising, at the bottom thereof, a
ring-nut element, also of hollow shape, which can be rotated for causing the adhesive
material to exit the top of the casing, said ring-nut element having a cylindrical
inner seat and said plug construction comprising, at the top thereof, a cylindrical
plug portion having a diameter similar to that of said cylindrical inner seat or recess
of said ring-nut element thereby, upon removing said plug construction from the top
of said casing, said cylindrical portion can be engaged in said cylindrical inner
seat to removably connect said plug construction to said bottom ring-nut element.
3. A plug construction, according to Claim 2, characterized in that said cylindrical inner seat of said ring-nut element comprises longitudinal ridge
elements.
4. A plug construction, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that, at a top thereof, said cylindrical body comprises a cylindrical cut-out having a
ring-like ridge, to firmly and removably engage therein said plug construction.
