(54) Washing machine


(57) A washing machine is disclosed. It includes a drum (11) and a rotatably mounted tub (20) within the drum (11) to receive laundry to be washed. The tub (20) has a pair of end walls (21,22) spaced from each other by a cylindrical sidewall (24) and a plurality of drain holes (25) formed in one end wall (22) adjacent to the sidewall (24) for the passage of water out of the tub (20). The tub (20) is mounted for rotation about an axis inclined relative to the horizontal so that the sidewall (24) is angled downwardly away from the end wall (22) in which the drain holes (25) are formed to allow water to collect in the tub (20) in a region between the sidewall (24) and the other end wall (21).
