[0001] The present invention relates to a steel toy disk, and more particularly to a flat-bottomed
steel toy disk.
[0002] Steel toy disks are developed from conventional paper toy disks that usually have
various color designs printed on two round surfaces thereof. Due to these various
color designs, the paper toy disks are not only a popular toy among children, but
also special collections of some people. With advancements in modern printing and
punching techniques, the steel toy disk is developed through punching a sheet metal
material. Since the steel toy disk may be designed to have a relatively small area,
it may be conveniently used as a product sold along with other merchandise or as a
giveaway.
[0003] Figs. 1 and 2 shows a currently available steel toy disk that basically includes
a round steel sheet, an outer edge 91 of which is smoothly curled to avoid cutting
a player. The round steel sheet is also punched at an area close to the outer edge
to form a concentric recess 92 that increases an overall structural strength of the
toy disk to avoid deformation thereof in the process of curling the outer edge.
[0004] The above-described conventional steel toy disk requires an additional punching process
to form the recess 92, and the recess 92 makes the whole steel toy disk to have a
non-flat surface. Although the recess 92 is shallow, it would more or less affect
the substitution of the steel toy disk for the conventional paper toy disks.
[0005] A primary object of the present invention is to provide a flat-bottomed steel toy
disk that has a smoothly curled outer edge formed through punching, and a completely
flat internal area without any recess formed thereon, so that the manufacturing process
for the steel toy disk is simplified and color designs may be printed on two outer
surfaces thereof.
[0006] Another object of the present invention is to provide a flat-bottomed steel toy disk
that has a completely flat surface and is therefore functionally closer to the original
paper toy disk but may be stored over a prolonged time.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0007] The structure and the technical means adopted by the present invention to achieve
the above and other objects can be best understood by referring to the following detailed
description of the preferred embodiments and the accompanying drawings, wherein
Fig. 1 is a top perspective view of a conventional steel toy disk;
Fig. 2 is a cross sectional view of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a top perspective view of a flat-bottomed steel toy disk according to the
present invention; and
Fig. 4 is a cross sectional view of Fig. 3.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0008] Please refer to Figs. 3 and 4 that are top perspective and cross sectional views,
respectively, of a flat-bottomed steel toy disk according to the present invention.
As shown, the steel toy disk of the present invention mainly includes a round steel
sheet 10, an outer edge of which is punched to form a smoothly curled edge 11, lest
the steel toy disk should have any sharp edge to injure a user. The round steel sheet
10 has an internal area that is a completely flat surface 12 without any recess formed
thereon.
[0009] In forming the flat-bottomed steel toy disk of the present invention, only one punching
process is needed to form the smoothly curled outer edge 11 for the round steel sheet
10, and no other process is needed for the internal flat surface 12 thereof. Therefore,
the flat-bottomed steel toy disk of the present invention may be produced at much
reduced time, labor, and manufacturing cost when comparing with the conventional steel
toy disk having a recess formed thereon.
[0010] Moreover, since the internal area 12 is a completely flat surface, the steel toy
disk of the present invention is structurally and functionally closer to the conventional
paper toy disk and is more interesting for play.
1. A flat-bottomed steel toy disk, comprising a round steel sheet, an outer edge of which
is punched to form a smoothly curled edge; said steel toy disk being characterized in that said round steel sheet has an internal area that is a completely flat surface without
any recess formed thereon.
