[0001] The present invention concerns an attachment of an accessory to a profile of a construction
for a window or door, consisting of a fixed frame and a moving frame.
[0002] Until now, the fixed frame and/or the moving framework of a window or door is provided
with a profile with a groove, in which an accessory, such as an end lath, is shifted.
This attachment is disadvantageous in that it is difficult to automate a slide-in
movement of such a lath in the groove in view of an industrial production.
[0003] The present invention aims to remedy this disadvantage.
[0004] Thus, the present invention concerns a fixed frame and/or a moving frame for a window,
door or the like which is made of profiles, whereby at least one accessory is fixed
to at least one profile in a groove, and whereby the groove is part of an adapter
which is fixed to the profile.
[0005] The adapter is preferably fixed to the profile by means of at least one snap-in system
and/or at least one screw.
[0006] According to a preferred embodiment, an end lath for bolting and unbolting a window
or door is provided in a sliding manner in the groove of the adapter.
[0007] According to a detail of an embodiment, at least one accessory is fixed to the profile
by means of at least one adapter.
[0008] According to a special embodiment, the adapter is fixed by means of at least one
screw, whereby the accessory has an opening through which the screw is accessible.
[0009] According to another detail of an embodiment, the adapter consists of at least two
parts, whereby a first part is provided with barbs and is fixed to the profile by
means of at least one snap-in system and/or of at least one screw, and whereby a second
part is fixed to the first part in a sliding manner and is provided with a slot, whereby,
after the second part has shifted towards a slot of the profile, or of the first part
or of a third part, a groove is formed for an accessory, such as a sliding end lath.
[0010] The adapter preferably consists of at least three parts, whereby the third part is
fixed to the first part in a sliding manner and is provided with a slot, whereby after
the second and the third part have shifted towards each other, a groove is formed
for an accessory, such as a sliding end lath.
[0011] The invention also concerns a frame of a construction according to the invention.
[0012] The invention also concerns an adapter, as described above.
[0013] In order to better explain the characteristics of the invention, the following preferred
embodiments of the invention are described as an example only without being limitative
in any way, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
figure 1 represents a window according to the invention;
figure 2 represents a section according to line II-II in figure 1 to a larger scale;
figure 3 represents the end lath according to the invention in perspective;
figure 4 represents a section according to line IV-III in figure 3 to a larger scale;
figures 5 up to 7 included are variants of the embodiments represented in figure 4;
figure 8 represents the adapter of the embodiment of figure 7 in perspective;
figure 9 represents the parts of the adapter from figure 8 in perspective; and
figure 10 represents the adapter of figure 7 with the shifting parts moved away from
each other as a cross-section;
figure 11 represents a section analogous to that in figure 2 to a larger scale, but
according to an alternative embodiment.
[0014] Figures 1 to 4 show a construction of a window 1 comprising a moving frame 2 with
a handle 3 for bolting and unbolting the window in relation to a fixed frame 4. By
turning the handle 3, an end lath 5 which is provided with one or several locking
knobs 6 will move. The locking knob 6 is situated in a groove 7 of the fixed frame
4.
[0015] The end lath 5 is provided on a profile 8 of the moving frame 2 by means of two adapters
9.
[0016] Each adapter 9 defines a groove 10 in which the end lath 5 is provided.
[0017] In the embodiment according to figure 4, the adapter 9 is fixed to the profile 8
by means of a screw 11. In order to make it possible to screw it on, the end lath
5 is provided with openings 12, whereby these openings 12 are sufficiently large so
as to provide a screw 11 in them. Thus, the attachment of an adapter 5 can be automated.
[0018] In the embodiment of figure 5, the adapter 9 is fixed to the profile 8 by means of
a snap-in system 13, whereas in the embodiment of figure 6, the adapter 9 is fixed
to the profile 8 by means of a deformable rivet 14.
[0019] According to the embodiment of figure 7, the adapter 9 consists of three parts, whereby
a first part 15 is provided with barbs 16 and is fixed to the profile 8 by means of
at least one snap-in system or at least one screw 11. The parts 17,18 are moved away
from each other in figure 10, whereby the end lath 5 can be placed between these parts
17-18 following a movement according to arrow B, which is perpendicular to the profile
8. The second part 17 and the third part 18 are mounted on the first part 15 in a
shifting manner. These parts 17,18 are provided with a slot 19, whereby, after the
second and the third part have shifted towards each other according to the arrows
A, a groove 20 is formed for an accessory, such as the shifting end lath.
[0020] The parts 17,18 remain in place as the barbs 16 of the first part mesh in the openings
21 of the parts 17-18.
[0021] The parts 17,18 are also provided with lateral grooves 22 in which are provided lateral
protrusions 23 of the first part 15, in order to obtain a correct lateral movement
of the parts 17,18.
[0022] Figure 11 shows a variant of a construction of a window 1, whereby adapters 9 are
fixed in this case, both to a profile 8 of the moving frame 2 and to the profile 24
of the fixed frame 4, in an analogous manner, as described above, whereby the adapters
9 on the moving frame 2 form a guide of an end lath 5, whereas the adapters 9 on the
fixed frame 4 serve for the attachment of for example a coupling element 25 which
can work in conjunction with the top 6 on the end lath 5.
[0023] The present invention is by no means limited to the embodiments of a fixed frame
and/or a moving frame for a window, door or the like, given as an example and represented
in the accompanying drawings; on the contrary, such frames can be made according to
all sorts of variants while still remaining within the scope of the invention.
