(54) Container assembly having an overcap with a storage compartment


(57) There is provided an overcap (12) that includes a storage compartment (26) for receiving a product (28) to be mixed with a hot liquid. The overcap (12) includes a top wall (24) defining the storage compartment (26) in an underside of the top wall surrounded by an annular portion. The overcap (12) includes an aperture in the annular portion. The overcap (12) also includes a skirt (40) extending downward from a rim (36) surrounding the annular portion. The skirt (40) extends below a lowermost surface of the top wall and can define a grip surface (44) which a consumer may use to hold the container assembly, such that the grip surface (44) insulates against heat if a hot liquid is held in the container. The storage compartment (26) is sealed with a membrane (30) that is relatively impermeable to moisture. In addition, the skirt (40) includes a plurality of spacers on the inside surface of the skirt (40) that are circumferentially spaced apart and that extend downwardly from the rim (36) of the overcap (12).
