(54) OFDM diversity receiver

(57) An OFDM diversity receiver includes a first multi-stage semiconductor demodulating circuit including a plurality of circuit stages, each circuit stage including a fast Fourier transformer and signal-combining units, and a second single-stage semiconductor demodulating circuit including a fast Fourier transformer and a forward error-correcting unit. These circuit stages and the second single-stage semiconductor demodulating circuit are connected to respective tuning units. Baseband signals derived from received signals from the tuning units are supplied to the respective fast Fourier transformers that transform the baseband signals using the fast Fourier transformation algorithm. The signal-combining units in these circuit stages combine the transformed signals. The combined transformed signals are supplied to the forward error-correcting unit that corrects any errors of the combined transformed signals and outputs bit strings.
