(57) A sleeve (3) for enclosing an exposed part of a lower portion (2) of an upstanding elongate pole (1) directly above where the lower portion of the pole is anchored, wherein the sleeve (3) includes a strip (7) helically wound circumferentially around an outer surface of the exposed part of the lower portion (2) and an annular collar (11) circumferentially around a top portion (12) of the helically wound strip for holding the top portion (12) of the helically wound strip on the exposed part of the lower portion (2) of the pole.
