(57) The present invention relates to a mechanically dimmable luminaire (1). The luminaire (1) comprises a filter (19) through which light from a light source (11) passes. In use, the filter (19) is movable relative to the light source (11), such that the amount of light from the light source (11) that is filtered by the filter (19) can be adjusted, in order to increase or decrease the brightness of the luminaire (1).
