[0001] This invention relates to a flexible impact- and/or scratch-resistant sheet providing
protection against atmospheric agents and rusting and corrosion.
[0002] During the transport and storage of various types of materials and/or products it
may be necessary to protect those products either from damage caused by impacts or
scratching, or, from the chemical point of view, it may for example be necessary to
provide protection against corrosion caused by vapours, condensation, or even sunlight
(atmospheric agents in general) or chemical agents such as oils, greases, soaps, solvents,
etc..
[0003] The object of this invention is to provide a sheet suitable for wrapping materials
or products in such a way as to ensure that those products are protected against damage
of the aforesaid type, which incorporates binding means.
[0004] This invention accomplishes the abovementioned objects through a flexible sheet of
plastics material having the characteristics specifically claimed in the Claims below.
[0005] Further features and advantages of this invention will be apparent in the course
of the following detailed description, provided purely by way of a non-restrictive
example with reference to the appended drawing in which 2 indicates, as a whole, the
sheet to which this invention relates.
[0006] Sheet 2 comprises a pair 4, 6 of binding means (for example bands), positioned along
its length and such as to project from the surface of sheet 2.
[0007] When in use, sheet 2 is wrapped around the object requiring protection and then fixed
thereto through connecting the free parts of binding means 4, 6.
[0008] Sheet 2 may be made of plastics material, by extrusion, which may for example be
hot extrusion, and subsequent rolling; binding means 4, 6 may be made of one piece
with sheet 2 on the rolled side, with the material forming the sheet in a pasty state.
[0009] In this case binding means 4, 6 are incorporated into sheet 2.
[0010] Alternatively, binding means 4, 6 may be attached thereto by adhesive bonding or
hot welding, or other means of attachment.
[0011] A sheet provided with binding means may be advantageously used to wrap for example
coils of sheet metal, packs of sheet metal, or other objects in order to protect them
from scratching, impact or atmospheric agents.
[0012] The advantages of a sheet according to the invention are obvious from what has been
described, in that the user already has means incorporated in the sheet for securing
it to the object requiring protection.
[0013] Of course, without prejudice to the principle of the invention, may variations may
be made to what has been described and illustrated without thereby going beyond the
scope of protection of the invention.
1. Flexible sheet (2) of plastics material, characterised in that it comprises at least one binding means (4, 6).
2. Sheet according to Claim 1, characterised in that the said binding means (4, 6) comprises for example a band.
