(54) Device for positioning sanding discs on a support plate


(57) A device for positioning sanding discs on a support plate being an element that is fitted to the actioning element of a manually used portable sander, the support plate having a central opening and a multitude of openings, the sanding disc (3) having a multitude of openings (8) on its surface and a central opening with a noticeably discoid shaped body (1) that includes a method of gripping and a means of positioning arranged on the upper part of the body (1) in order to be fixed jointly to the sanding disc (3) and the support plate (4).




Description

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION



[0001] The object of this invention is a device for positioning sanding discs on a support plate that incorporates significant innovations and advantages compared to the current fixing of sanding discs onto sanding machines.

[0002] More specifically the new invention refers to a device for positioning sanding discs on a support plate, said support plate being an element that is fitted to the driving shaft of a manually used portable sander, the support plate having a central opening and a multitude of openings, the sanding disc having a multitude of openings on its surface and a central opening.

BACKGROUND TO THE INVENTION



[0003] The portable manual sanders are well known with a manageable size which are used, for example, for the repair of vehicle body part. Said machines are usually made from a frame or carcass that has a support plate with multiple openings onto which the sanding disc is placed and where it adheres, said disc having variable thicknesses in accordance with the needs of the user, and which also has a multitude of openings.

[0004] However, when carrying out the placement and alignment of the sanding disc onto the support plate, the correct alignment is not always achieved as such alignment between both elements is carried out manually and by visual approximation, in such a way that a failure to line up the openings of both elements can make the aspiration of the particles difficult during the sanding operation.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION



[0005] The present invention has been developed for the purpose of providing a device for positioning sanding discs that solves the previously stated disadvantages, moreover, providing other advantages that will be clear from the description which is attached below.

[0006] The device for positioning sanding discs on a support plate of the present invention where said support plate it is an element that can be fitted to a manual sander, the support plate having a central opening and a multitude of openings, and the sanding disc having multitude of openings on its surface and a central opening, is characterised in that it has a body that has a noticeably discoid shape that includes a rod protruding in a downward direction to be gripped by the user and positioning devices arranged on the upper part of the body to fix it to the sanding disc and support plate. In this way, the placement and alignment of the sanding disc on the support plate of the portable sander is improved in such a way as to improve the aspiration during the working time of the machine as the obstruction is prevented of the sanded material that is generated during the working cycle of the sanding machine.

[0007] By preference, the positioning devices consist of a multitude of pivots that protrude in an upward direction to place in the openings of the sanding disc and of the support plate, in such a way that the openings on the sanding disc and the openings on the plate are aligned.

[0008] In addition, another advantageous aspect is that the positioning devices are situated on some veins that are arranged between the external peripheral section of the noticeably discoid body and the rod.

[0009] By preference, the body of the device object of the invention is made from a rigid plastic material.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT



[0012] As and how described in Figures 1 and 2, the device for positioning sanding discs is useful for the alignment and fixing of the sanding disc (subsequently by means of adhesive means that are not shown) in a suitable way onto the support plate (4) of a manually used sander (7) that is used for the repair of vehicle body parts. This type of machine has a frame so as to be manually gripped by the user that is fitted with a support plate (4) that rotates around an driving shaft onto which the sanding disc (3) is placed, for example, Multi-Air™ belonging to Norton that has a multitude of opening (8) on its surface.

[0013] The positioning device object of the invention has a noticeably discoid shaped body (1) with a 150 mm. diameter made from a rigid plastic material that has a rod (2) that protrudes in a downward direction and position devices arranged on the upper part of the body (1) in order to be fixed to the sanding disc (3) and the support plate (4). The positioning devices consist of a plurality of pivots (5), that protrude in an upward direction in order to fit into the openings of the sanding disc (3) and the support plate (4) in such a way that the openings in the sanding disc (3) and the support plate openings (4) are aligned, likewise the presence of a central knob (6) that fits into a central opening of the sanding disc (3) and the support plate (4).

[0014] The assembly of the positioning device, the sanding disc (3) and the support plate (4) of the sander (7) (represented schematically) can be seen with greater clarity in Figure 3. Once both elements are aligned, the positioning device is removed leaving the sanding disc (3) fixed to the support plate (4).

[0015] The details, shapes, sizes and other accessorial elements, likewise the materials used for the construction of the sanding disc positioning device of the invention can suitably be substituted for others that are technically equivalent and do not deviate from the essentials of the invention or the scope defined by the claims which are included below.


Claims

1. A device for positioning sanding discs on a support plate being an element that is fitted to the actioning element of a manually used portable sander, the support plate having a central opening and a multitude of openings, the sanding disc (3) having a multitude of openings (8) on its surface and a central opening is characterised in that it has a noticeably discoid shaped body (1) that includes a method of gripping and a means of positioning arranged on the upper part of the body (1) in order to be fixed jointly to the sanding disc (3) and the support plate (4).
 
2. A position device according to Claim 1, characterised in that the means of positioning have a central knob (6) and a plurality of pivots (5) that protrude in an upward direction in order to be fitted into the openings of the sanding disc (3) and the support plate (4) in such a way that the openings in the sanding disc (3) and the support plate openings (4) are aligned.
 
3. A position device according to Claim 1, characterised in that the body is made from a rigid plastic material.
 
4. A position device according to Claim 1, characterised in that the means of gripping is composed of a rod (2) that protrudes in a downward direction from the noticeably discoid shaped body (1) in order to be gripped by the user.
 
5. A position device according to Claims 1, 2 and 4, characterised in that the means of positioning are located on some veins (9) that are arranged on the external peripheral section of the body (1) and the rod (2).
