A system for the rapid interchange of goods and/or vehicles between road/rail networks, especially for the interchange of goods and/or vehicles between road/motorway and rail networks, comprises at least one management centre (10) having a central computer designed to process requests received from a user and relating to a given type of goods and/or road vehicle intending to use the system, wherever located, whether travelling or stationary, and to associate such requests with a railway traffic management system containing information for locating trains in time and space on a certain section of the railway line; the system also comprises a set of Rapid Interchange Facilities (RIF) well distributed along said section of the railway line and where the goods and/or road vehicles can be rapidly loaded/unloaded individually onto/from a rail wagon.
