(54) Loudspeaker

(57) A loudspeaker comprises a basin-shaped frame, a yoke, a voice coil, a tympanic paper, a voice basin, and a dust cap. The frame has an outer end to which the yoke is mounted. The yoke has a pillar extending from the center thereof, and the voice coil is secured to the pillar. The tympanic paper is attached between the voice coil and the frame. The hollow voice basin is connected to the voice coil and extended from the axis of the frame. An extended end of the voice basin is covered with the dust cap, and the voice basin is further connected to the voice coil so as to form a hollow chamber. The present invention makes the tone quality of the mid-frequency sound more outstanding and facilitates the linkage between the frequency responses of the mid/high frequencies. In addition, the manufacturing cost of the loudspeaker can be reduced.

Description

[0001] The present invention relates to an improved structure of a loudspeaker, and more particularly to the loudspeaker for promoting the range of mid-frequency sound that the woofer covers, making the tone quality of the mid-frequency sound outstanding, and avoiding the occurrence of decadent sound range on the tail portion of the mid frequency. As a result, the frequency responses of the mid/high frequencies can be linked easily, the range of the frequency response can be extended, and the use of the crossover network can be omitted for further reducing the manufacturing cost.

[0002] The audio frequency detectable by the human being is ranged from 20 Hz to 20 KHz. The frequency spectrum of all kinds of music is approximately ranged from 40 Hz to 18 KHz. Therefore, for ensuring that the original tone quality is reproduced, a good loudspeaker must be equipped with wide range of frequency response so as to present every frequency section.

[0003] As shown in FIG. 4, the conventional loudspeaker is composed of a frame 10, a yoke 20, a voice coil 30, a tympanic paper 40, and a spherical dust cap 50 that covers the voice coil 30, wherein the materials, which constitute the tympanic paper 40 and the voice coil 30, and the materials such as magnet and coil which constitute the yoke 20 will significantly affect the characteristic curves and the quality of the loudspeaker. However, the loudspeaker has physical limitation. In other words, it is very hard for the large loudspeaker to produce the high-frequency sound, and it is also very hard for the small loudspeaker to produce the low-frequency sound. As a result, it is almost impossible to form a loudspeaker that can cover the whole sound range. Therefore, the current audio equipment usually adopts the large-diameter loudspeaker and the small-diameter loudspeaker simultaneously, wherein the large-diameter loudspeaker is adopted for producing mid-/low-frequency sound and the small-diameter loudspeaker is adopted for producing high-frequency sound. Although the existing woofer can cover the mid-/low-frequency sound range, the mid-frequency sound is produced by upward extending the low-frequency sound, causing the occurrence of decadent sound range on the tail portion of the mid frequency. As a result, the so-called mid-frequency notch is formed on the linkage between the mid frequency and the high frequency while the tweeter is applied to the woofer. Accordingly, a coaxial loudspeaker having a mid-pitched loudspeaker mounted on the axis of a woofer is currently disclosed for curing the shortness in mid frequency.

[0004] Accordingly, it is an objective of the present invention to disclose a loudspeaker, which promotes the tone quality and extends the range of frequency response, for distinctly presenting low, mid, and high frequencies without using other sized loudspeakers and increasing the manufacturing cost.

[0005] The main objective of the present invention is to provide a loudspeaker with the improved structure for overcoming the deficiencies of the conventional loudspeaker and the shortcoming of its application. The loudspeaker of the present invention promotes the range of mid-frequency sound that the woofer covers, makes the performance of tone quality of the mid-frequency sound outstanding, and avoids the occurrence of decadent sound range on the tail portion of the mid frequency such that the frequency responses of the mid/high frequencies can be linked easily and the range of the frequency response can be extended. In addition, the use of the crossover network can be omitted for further reducing the manufacturing cost.

[0006] Other objects and features of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the drawings in which:

FIG. 1 is an elevational view showing the structure of the present invention.

FIG. 2 is an exploded, elevational view showing the structure of the present invention.

FIG. 3 is a schematic, cross-sectional view showing the structure of the present invention.

FIG. 4 is a schematic, cross-sectional view showing the conventional loudspeaker.

[0007] The above-mentioned features and advantages of this invention, and the manner of attaining them, will become more apparent and the invention will be better understood by reference to the following description of embodiments of the invention taken in conjunction with the drawings.

[0008] Referring to FIG. 1 through FIG. 3, the improved structure of a loudspeaker of the present invention comprises a basin-shaped frame 1, a yoke 2, a voice coil 3, a tympanic paper 4, a voice basin 5, and a dust cap 6. The frame 1 has an outer end to which the yoke 2 is mounted. The yoke 2 has a pillar extending from the center thereof, and the voice coil 3 is secured to the pillar. The tympanic paper 4 is attached between the voice coil 3 and the frame 1. The voice basin 5 is connected to the voice coil 3 and extended from the axis of the frame 1. The voice basin 5 is hollow and extended outwardly with a height higher than 1 cm. The voice basin 5 has an extended end 51 on the same side as that of the opening of the frame 1. The extended end 51 of the voice basin 5 is covered with the dust cap 6, and the voice coil 3 is connected to the other side of the voice basin 5 so as to form a hollow chamber 52.

[0009] Referring to FIG. 3 and FIG. 4 simultaneously, as shown in FIG. 4, the tympanic paper 40 of the conventional loudspeaker is a cone-shaped open basin and the tympanic paper 40 is provided with no partition. As a result, the sound waves generated by the tympanic paper 40 of the loudspeaker shown in FIG. 4 will overlap with one another, causing the sound the indefinite high and low pitches and the poor tone quality.
On the contrary, the present invention provides the loudspeaker with the improved structure, as shown in FIG. 3, although its basic skeleton is slightly identical to the conventional loudspeaker. It is worth emphasizing that the voice basin 5 of the present invention is connected to the voice coil 3 and extended from the axis of the frame 1. Besides, the voice basin 5, as shown in FIG. 3, has a height obviously higher than that of the spherical dust cap 50 of the conventional loudspeaker, as shown in FIG. 4. As a result, the effect that the voice basin 5 can achieve consists in the effective separation among the sound waves in the center of the loudspeaker such that the sound waves can be uniformly, outwardly extended for reducing the phenomenon of overlap. Accordingly, the present invention can make the performances of the mid-pitched sound and the low-pitched sound more clear and can promote the frequency response.

[0010] Moreover, as shown in FIG. 4, the structure of the conventional loudspeaker has the radial opening. Generally speaking, the tympanic paper 40 farther from the axis of the opening of the loudspeaker has faster vibration frequency, thereby producing the higher audio frequency. On the contrary, the tympanic paper 40 closer to the axis of the opening of the loudspeaker produces lower audio frequency because of its slower vibration frequency.

[0011] However, as shown in FIG. 3, the feature of the improved loudspeaker of the present invention consists in that the extended end 51 of the voice basin 5 is covered with the dust cover 6 so as to form the hollow chamber 52 between the voice basin 5 and voice coil 3. If the loudspeaker of the present invention is actuated, the audio frequency of the sound waves generated by the voice coil 3 is promoted by the chamber 52 for obtaining the better mid frequency such that the linkage between the response curves of the mid/high frequencies is easier so as to prevent the occurrence of mid-frequency notch and extend the range of audio frequency. According to practical test performed by the prevent inventor, the frequency response can be extended over 18 kHz. In comparison with the conventional loudspeaker, the loudspeaker of the present invention makes the performance of tone quality of the mid frequency more outstanding and facilitates the linkage between the response curves of the mid-/high-frequencies. In addition, because of the extension of the frequency response the use of the crossover network can be omitted for further reducing the manufacturing cost.

[0012] In summary, the present invention can overcome the deficiencies of the conventional loudspeaker so as to make the discrimination among the high-pitched sound, the mid-pitched sound, and the low-pitched sound clear. The present invention extends the range of frequency response effectively and makes the performance of tone quality of the high-frequency sound and the mid-frequency sound more outstanding. While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been set forth for the purpose of disclosure, modifications of the disclosed embodiment of the invention as well as other embodiments thereof may occur to those skilled in the art. Accordingly, the appended claims are intended to cover all embodiments, which do not depart from the spirit and scope of the invention.
