Clamping profile for the fastening of a side screen to a main screen. The main screen is preferably a screen which may be extended outward from a caravan, camper van or the like with bending arms. Secure fastening of the side screen is effected, in accordance with the invention, by receiving a profile at the free end of the side screen. The profile is provided with a fastening construction having a clamping effect, allowing fastening to the main screen to be effected. Fastening is effected over the entire length of the side screen on the main screen. The clamping profile consists of a resilient portion against which a body may be rotatably pressed. The body may comprise a cylinder, lever and the like.
The present invention relates to a retractable awning - side screen assembly according to the preamble of claim 1.
The invention aims to remove this drawback.
According to the invention this is realised with a retractable awning - side screen assembly having the features according to claim 1. Through the flexible nature of the engagement of the screen an optimum holding force can be effected.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, because of the curvature of the clamping body and the flexible nature of at least one of the engagement surfaces optimum engagement of the screen is effected. Because of this embodiment improved clamping can be effected on the one hand, whilst because of the possible lower clamping forces, damage to the screen can be avoided.
If a cylinder is used, the curvature of the cylinder surface will exactly correspond with the radius of the pivoting movement of the clamping face. However, it should be understood that a surface being curved according to the pivot movement of said clamping body includes other embodiments wherein this radius could be somewhat larger and considerably smaller.
In this case, the radius of curvature of the extremity of the short leg is preferably relatively small, relative to the radius of rotation of the lever.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the clamping body and more particular the clamping face thereof is relatively rigid, whilst the clamping profile is relatively flexible.
According to a further preferred embodiment, the clamping face is nearer to the pivot of the clamping body than the corresponding operating lever (long leg) of the clamping body.
