(54) Improved lid with hinged cap

(57) Improved lid with a hinged cap for containers, made from three independent bodies, the first base body (1) having a pourer opening (1a), with an internal threaded section (1b) to fit onto a threaded section of a container; a second upper body (2) or lid that is hinged to the first base body (1) by means of a downward extension (2b) that acts as a hinge and a third external body (3) that fits to the first base body (1) in such a way that it wraps around it externally and laterally. The external third body (3) has a perimeter groove (3a) on the internal side wall aimed at the fitting of a peripheral rib (1c) fitted into the external wall of the first base body (1). The downward extension (2b) has a barb shaped protrusion at the end that may be fitted in a cavity located in the first body (1) between the threaded section (1b) and an intermediate wall.

Description

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The object of the present Patent is an improved lid with a hinged cap for containers that includes significant innovations and advantages compared to other lids available in the market.

BACKGROUND TO THE INVENTION

[0002] At the present time, the existence is known of a wide variety of plastic lids for different types of containers. The lid to be described below is of the type that has base body that includes a pourer that protrudes from the top and a hinged lid, such as, the lid described in the Utility Model N° ES 1031143 U that belongs to the same owner as this present application. However, the lid that is described in that registration is made from a single body as both the base body aimed at fixing the container and equally the lid are joined together at the area of the hinge.

[0003] Owing to this arrangement and construction of that lid, the material used for both parts is the same, and in so doing compels the use of a plastic material that is suitable for both, this does not mean that it is the most suitable for the function that each one of the parts of the lid carries out.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0004] The present invention has been developed for the purpose of providing an improved lid that solves the previously stated disadvantages, moreover, providing other advantages that will be clear from the description which is attached below.

[0005] The improved lid for containers of the object of the invention is characterised by the fact that it is made up of three independent parts in such a way that it allows for a greater combination of colours or different designs, the first body being the one that has a pourer opening, that has a an internal threaded section to fit to a threaded section of the container, a second upper body that acts as the lid, that is hinged to the first body and a third external body that fits to the first body in such a way that it envelops it externally and laterally.

[0006] As it is the body that acts as a lid independent to the base body, it allows the manufacturer to make said lid body from a more flexible material than the rest of the lid assembly thus improving the movement and resistance characteristics of the lid body.

[0007] In accordance with another aspect of the lid of this invention, the third external body has an internal side wall with a perimeter groove aimed at the fitting of a peripheral rib fitted in the external wall of the body base.

[0008] Advantageously, the downward extension has a protrusion at the end with the shape of a barb aimed at fitting into the cavity situated in the first body, more specifically, between the threaded section and an intermediate wall, in such a way that it acts as a method of fixing to avoid the exit of the hinged section Other characteristics and advantages of the improved lid object of the present invention will become clear from the present description of a preferred embodiment, but it is not exclusive, it illustrates by way of example, but the drawings attached are not by way of limitation, in which:

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0009]

Figure 1 shows an exploded elevation view of the improved lid in accordance with the present invention;

Figure 2 shows a side elevation view of the lid represented in the previous figure in an assembled and closed state;

Figure 3 shows a side elevation view in an open state;

Figure 4 shows a top and side elevation view of a second embodiment of the lid in accordance with the present invention; and

Figure 5 shows a side elevation of the lid represented in Figure 4 in an open state.

DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0010] As and how shown in figures 1, 2 and 3, a first embodiment of the lid of this present invention is made up of three independent bodies using mouldable plastic materials, the first base body (1) has a pourer opening (1a) for the outlet of the liquid exiting from the container and an internal threaded section (1b) to fit to a threaded section of a conventional container (4) shown partially, a second upper body (2) that acts as the lid itself from which a plug (2a) protrudes in a downward direction, that is hinged to the first body (1) by means of a downward extension (2b) with its end having a barb shape that acts as a hinge and a third external body (3) that is fitted to the first base body (1) in such a way that it wraps around it externally and laterally. It is worth mentioning that the material used in the lid body (2) has a greater flexibility than the material used for the other two components or bodies. The previously stated barb is aimed at being fitted into a cavity in the first base body (1), more specifically, between the threaded section (1b) and an intermediate wall (as can be seen more clearly in figure 1), to prevent its unwanted release from the body (2) during the opening or closing operation.

[0011] The third external body (3) has a perimeter groove (3a) on its inner side wall in order for a peripheral rib (1c) to be fitted into it that is provided on the external wall of the body base (1).

[0012] In figures 4 and 5, a second embodiment has been made of the lid of this present invention with the sole difference compared to the first described above being the geometric shape of the plan, which in this case is rectangular.

[0013] The details, shapes, sizes and other accessorial elements, likewise the materials used for the construction of the improved lid of the invention can suitably be substituted for others that are technically equivalent and do not deviate from the essentials of the invention or the scope defined by the claims which are included below.

Claims
