(54) On-channel repeater

(57) The preferred embodiment of the invention relates to a device for reducing tap noise in an on-channel repeater. In an on-channel repeater the signal being amplified will perturb the operation of the taps in the adaptive filter cancelling the effect of any feedback path that is present. In the preferred embodiment, a tap noise estimation signal is produced and fed into the processing path to cancel the effect of the tap noise perturbation.
