(54) Device for extending intermediate beams for supporting formwork for floors

(57) A device for the extension of intermediate beams (2) for supporting formwork for floors, characterised in that it comprises an extended support (1) in which the free end of a intermediate beam (2) can be enclosed, bearing stops (10, 13) coinciding with the upper surface, lower surface and side surfaces of the said beam (2) after fitting so that the device is held on the intermediate beam (2), and likewise being provided with a centering support (3) for a rail located close to its outer end.

Description

[0001] This invention relates to a device for extending intermediate beams of the type used to support the beams which are in turn intended to support the form work panels for reinforced concrete floors.

[0002] This invention therefore relates to the sector of the construction of reinforced concrete structures.

[0003] At the present time, the intermediate beams of the type mentioned have no specific supports for fitting beams at their free ends, and makeshift methods such as fitting the intermediate beams back to front, providing a double support for intermediate beams and a single support for the outer beams are resorted to in those cases where this is necessary. However, this requires an excessive amount of material in order to perform its function. There is therefore the problem of the lack of specific means for quickly and effectively extending intermediate beams, saving time and materials. For this reason the inventor has developed this invention which provides a specific device for extending intermediate beams for supporting formwork for floors, through which such extension can be carried out quickly and safely.

[0004] This invention is designed to overcome the disadvantage mentioned by providing very practical and simple means for enabling intermediate beams to be extended at their free ends in such a way that transverse beams can be simply and quickly mounted at the ends of the beams.

[0005] In order to achieve its objectives the device to which this invention relates comprises an extended support into which the free end of a intermediate beam can be inserted in a longitudinal hollow space, with components for providing stops for the said beam, for both the top and bottom and the sides of the end of the intermediate beam which has to be inserted, in an arrangement in which the end of the intermediate beam can only be inserted with a particular angle of inclination, leaving the device perfectly connected to the intermediate beam without axial or lateral movement, and well supported to receive the loads which the new beam will transmit, and also having a housing for a beam close to its extremity, i.e. adjacent to the well supporting the longitudinal rail and a support for a safety rail which can be attached to the device.

[0006] In one embodiment of the invention, the extended support of the device is supplemented by two straight parallel tubular members, spaced apart so as to form a space intended to enclose the end of the intermediate beam, joined together by a reinforcement at the outer end of or outside the formwork and a bridge above designed to coincide with the top surface of the intermediate beam and with a rear stop in the form of a U-shaped clamp at the inner end designed to coincide with the bottom surface of the intermediate beam.

[0007] The intermediate beam will preferably be provided with upper stops designed to act as stops for the top bridge of the device and lateral sockets designed to receive the extended tubular supporting members of the extension device to which the invention relates at the bottom.

[0008] For a better understanding drawings of a preferred embodiment of this invention are appended by way of an explanatory but not restrictive example.

[0009] Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the device for extending intermediate beams according to the invention.

[0010] Figures 2 and 3 show successive stages in fitting the extension device at the end of a intermediate beam.

[0011] Figure 4 shows the device fully fitted at the free end of a intermediate beam.

[0012] Figure 5 shows, in perspective, the intermediate beam and the extension device to which this invention relates, bearing a support for a longitudinal rail.

[0013] Figure 6 shows a perspective view of a structure receiving floor formwork panels in which extension devices according to this invention are incorporated.

[0014] As shown in the figures, the device to which this invention relates comprises an extended support -1- intended to enclose in a fitted way the free end of a intermediate beam -2-, bearing an auxiliary support -3- for a rail, which when incorporated in the device at the end of beam -2- is located effectively at the extremity thereof, as shown in Figure 5 in which there will also be seen the location of a vertical support -4- for a rail, and also in Figure 6 which shows a supporting structure for floor formwork panels comprising multiple straight feet -5- which support formwork panels - 6- through intermediate beams -7- and -8-, one of which -8'- will be seen to be supported by various devices -9- according to this invention, incorporating supports for a safety rail.

[0015] In the embodiment illustrated in the drawings, the extended support of the device comprises two straight parallel tubular members -1'- and -1"-, preferably of square or rectangular cross-section, which are provided with a transverse bridge -10-designed to coincide with the top surface -11- of intermediate beam -2- and reinforcing elements such as front plate -12- or others to impart sufficient strength to the device, which also has at its inner extremity a transverse bridge -13- located beneath the lower surface of tubular members -1'- and -1"- designed to coincide with the bottom surface of intermediate beam -2- in the fitted position.

[0016] Intermediate beam -2- is in turn provided with supports on the side surfaces as shown by number -14- which are designed to receive extended support -1-in its fully fitted position, as shown in Figure 4. In addition to this, the said intermediate beam supports upper stops -15- likewise designed to act as a stop for bridge -10- of the device.

[0017] Bridge -13- may simply comprise a U-shaped piece, the limbs of which are welded to form the appropriate angle in longitudinal members -1'- and -1"-, although the said support may be constructed in other ways, for example using welded plate members or other appropriate arrangements.

[0018] Obviously the supporting assembly for the device may also be made of cast steel, light alloy, forged parts, etc.

[0019] The device also comprises a support or well -16- at its outer extremity which is designed to receive a vertical support -4- for a safety rail.

[0020] Although the invention has been described and illustrated by way of example, it will be understood that the description and drawings are not restricting and that many variations and changes may be made in the device according to the invention provided that they lie within the scope of the following claims.
