OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0001] As expressed by the title of this specification, the present invention relates to
a book support comprising a fixing base providing the function for which it is intended
with a series of advantages and features, in addition to others inherent to its organization
and constitution, which will be described in detail below and which involve an alternative
and/or embodiment to that known in this field.
[0002] More specifically, the invention consists of an object with an L, inverted T, U or
horizontal F-shaped profile intended to carry out containing functions, one or several
fixing elements being applied on the surfaces of the object which can come into contact
with the surface to which it is to be fixed, providing such object with the capacity
to remain immobile against reasonable forces acting thereupon, even when the latter
is located on inclined or irregular surfaces.
FIELD OF APPLICATION
[0003] The field of application of the invention is comprised within the industry dedicated
to manufacturing auxiliary elements and accessories of furniture for companies, offices
or studies and for homes.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0004] Different types of book supports are known and some of them have different systems
for preventing their movement, either by adjustable elastic means, or because they
need anchors or support points, etc.
[0005] In some cases, the fixing element of the book support is limited with regard to the
capacity of elements to which it can apply its containment capacity, or they do not
cover the entire available surface for housing the objects, and if they do so, they
are not easy to manufacture and in some cases, their use is not simple either.
[0006] In addition, there is a drawback while adapting them to the different dimensions
that the books or objects to be supported may have as well as the volume that they
occupy for their storage or transport because in most cases they are elements with
a rigid and fixed configuration.
[0007] It must be mentioned that the applicant is not aware of the existence of a book support
comprising a fixing base having technical, structural and constitutive features similar
to those proposed by the present invention, the object of which is to solve the indicated
drawbacks.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0008] The book support comprising a fixing base has a morphology with an L-shaped profile
with variable dimensions, formed by one or several parts and manufactured with one
or several materials (plastics, metals, woods, fibers, meshes...), although other
profiles, such as the inverted T, U or horizontal F-shaped profile, are anticipated.
[0009] If the type of material used allows it, the entire object can be made, if desired,
from a single part if the material is suitably folded, or with the incorporation of
detachable and integral or mobile elements in a second production stage, in such case
solving the aforementioned drawback of adaptation to the different dimensions that
the books or objects to be supported may have as well as the volume that it occupies
for its storage.
[0010] To that end, it is provided that movable joining elements, such as bent rods which,
inserted into holes provided in one, several or all the sides of the vertical and
horizontal parts forming the book support, allow fixing the position of each of them
in a variable and versatile manner, and/or allow separating one, several or all its
components and/or opening them and/or adjusting their relative position with respect
to the remaining components, can be used for the version of the book support made
of several parts, thus obtaining a book support which can be completely or partially
disassembled and/or folded and/or extended.
[0011] The book support can furthermore be provided with specific aspects in its morphology
which allow incorporating new elements, such that an L-shaped profile can be changed
into a new inverted T-shaped profile, to an U-shaped profile, to a horizontal F-shaped
profile or to other profiles by means of increasing the number of parts or surfaces
intended to carry out the object holding, supporting or containing functions, the
supporting functions and the joining elements, a book support being obtained which
can be extended in addition to the attributes mentioned in the previous paragraph.
[0012] One, several or all the surfaces of the book support can be completely or partially
smooth or rough, with holes or flanges (with or without handgrip functions), or can
have different outlines or be decorated with different printed, implanted, engraved
or embossed ornamental motifs.
[0013] All the versions have one or several fixing elements in the surfaces of the object
which can come into contact with the surface to which it is to be fixed.
[0014] Said fixing elements are placed in the form of strips or patches, and their condition
of fixing elements is due to the chemical compound or to the physical features completely
or partially forming them, but by no means do they damage the surface on which the
book support is to be placed.
[0015] The fixing elements are further able to assure that the book support, located on
a surface, does not move against the action of reasonable forces, while at the same
time they enable replacing the book support by simply lifting it and placing it again
in the desired place.
[0016] As has been mentioned, said strips or patches can be of different kinds and a variety
of dimensions, completely or partially covering one, several or all the faces of the
object.
[0017] The support thus formed has the quality of containing and preventing the movement
of any object that is supported or pushed against it, exerting reasonable pushing
force values, even in relatively inclined surfaces, regardless of the side of the
support on which an object is attached or on which the force is exerted.
[0018] The constitutive simplicity of the proposed object allows manufacturing it at extraordinarily
reduced prices, allowing the manufacture in series, even in high-run batches, in addition
to enabling the insertion of any ornamental motif by any means, or even advertising
motifs.
[0019] Versions are also provided in which some of the faces incorporate practical elements
(even hooks) which can house or retain pencils, compasses, rulers, sheets or any other
tool or object.
[0020] The new book support comprising a fixing base therefore represents an innovative
structure with structural and constitutive features that were unknown up until now
for such purpose, which reasons, in addition to its practical usefulness, provide
it with sufficient grounds for obtaining the exclusive privilege which is being applied
for.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0021] To complement the description which is being made and with the aim of aiding to better
understand the features of the invention, a set of drawings is attached to this specification
as an integral part thereof, in which the following has been shown with an illustrative
and non-limiting character.
[0022] Figure 1 shows a perspective view of an example, in this case with an L-shaped profile,
of the book support comprising a fixing base according to the invention.
[0023] Figure 2 shows a side elevational view of the model shown in Figure 1, in which the
L-shaped profile can be observed, and at the base of which an example of the placement
of fixing elements can be observed.
[0024] Figure 3 shows a perspective view of the model referred to seen from the base, the
example of fixing elements being observed with greater detail.
[0025] Figure 4 shows a perspective view of another embodiment version of the book support
according to the invention, adopting an L-shaped profile formed by the coupling, by
means of bent rods, of the vertical panel intended to carry out the holding and supporting
functions and of the horizontal or support panel.
[0026] Figure 5 shows a side elevational view of the example shown in Figure 4, the L-shaped
profile being observed and at the base of which a placement of the fixing elements
can be observed.
[0027] Figure 6 shows a perspective view of the example shown in Figures 4 and 5 and in
which the possibility of increasing its height and its useful base, thanks to the
movement of the respective panels on the rods forming the joining elements therebetween,
can be observed.
[0028] Figure 7 shows a perspective view of the example shown in Figures 4, 5 and 6, the
possibility of disassembling it into independent elements facilitating its storage
and transport being observed.
[0029] Figure 8 shows a perspective view of the example shown in the previous figures which
shows the possibility of completely lowering one of its panels.
[0030] Figure 9 shows a perspective view of another embodiment of the invention, in this
case adopting an inverted T-shape profile as a new panel has been incorporated to
the book support with an L-shaped profile by means of incorporating new coupling rods
to the previous example.
[0031] Figure 10 shows a perspective view of a new example of the book support of the invention,
initially with an inverted T-shaped profile and finished with a horizontal F-shaped
profile by means of incorporating additional panels and rods.
[0032] Figure 11 shows a more detailed perspective view in which the side holes made in
the vertical and horizontal panels can be observed, which holes are intended for the
insertion of the rods forming the joining element.
PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
[0033] In view of the mentioned figures and according to the adopted numbers, a preferred
exemplary embodiment of the proposed book support comprising a fixing base can be
observed, which, as shown, is formed by a rectangular laminar plate with variable
dimensions in which a right-angle fold has been carried out such that an object with
an L-shaped profile is formed, in which object two areas can be distinguished: a vertical
panel (1), intended to carry out object holding, supporting or containing functions,
and a horizontal panel (2), which will carry out the book support base or supporting
functions, between which panels there is a 90° angle for this example, and can be
any other angle for other versions.
[0034] By observing Figure 3, the fixing elements (3) can be seen located under the horizontal
panel (2), as this is the area which can come into contact with the surface to which
the book support is to be fixed.
[0035] Said fixing elements (3) are placed in the form of strips or patches and their condition
of fixing elements is due to the chemical compound or to the physical features completely
or partially forming them, but by no means do they damage the surface on which the
book support is to be placed.
[0036] In these conditions, the first book or object which is attached or exerts reasonable
force on any of the vertical surfaces (1), being or not being placed on the horizontal
support panel (2), will neither cause the lowering nor the movement of the book support,
without the weight of the book or object itself having to prevent it. Said book support
can furthermore also fulfill its functions placed on relatively inclined surfaces.
[0037] In the exemplary embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 3, the horizontal support panel
(2) forms part of the vertical panel (1) itself, the seating base being caused by
the folding of that panel (2); it is nevertheless necessary to state that the panels
can have an independent origin, panel (2) with respect to panel (1), being made integral
in a second production stage by suitable means when the material forming the object
is sufficiently malleable, as is the case of wood, or when the materials of the vertical
panel (1) and of the horizontal support panel (2) are of a different nature.
[0038] In addition, the book support comprising a fixing base can furthermore be completely
or partially disassembled, folded and/or extended as can be seen in Figures 4 to 8
of the drawings, i.e. a book support with a preferably L-shaped profile formed by
the coupling of the vertical panel (1), intended to carry out book or object holding,
supporting or containing functions, and of the horizontal or support panel (2) incorporating
fastening elements (3), by means of bent rods (4) inserted into holes (5) provided
in one, several or all the sides of the vertical panel (1) and of the horizontal panel
(2).
[0039] The book support comprising a fixing base can also be extended, allowing the transformation
of an L-shaped profile into an inverted T, U or horizontal F-shaped profile by means
of the coupling of new rods (4) as well as new vertical (1) and horizontal (2) panels,
as can be seen in Figures 9 and 10.
[0040] Having sufficiently described the nature of the present invention as well as the
way of putting it into practice, it is stated that, within its essentiality, it can
be put into practice in other embodiments that differ in detail from that indicated
by way of example, which embodiments will also fall under the claimed protection provided
that its fundamental principle is not altered, changed or modified.
