(54)	Drive unit for a wheelchair

(57) The invention concerns a drive unit (7) for a wheelchair (1) wherein the drive unit is mounted between the main wheels (2) and where the wheels (8) of the drive unit are in contact with the base at or close to the connection line between the contact points of the main wheels with the base, where the drive unit is mounted to a crossbar (5) provided transversely under the wheelchair at its front end, on which is provided with a coupling member (6) for coupling drive unit and wheel chair together. The drive unit according to the invention is furthermore provided with a draw handle (12) which is preferably adjustable in height.
