Process for the esterification and transesterification of fats |
(57) The present invention relates to a process for the esterification and transesterification
of fats, particularly fats with high levels of acidity.
In particular, the present invention relates to a fat esterification and/or transesterification
process, comprising at least one step of reacting said fats in a solvent in the presence
of a catalyst based on ZrO
2 or Al
2O
3 on silica at a temperature comprised of between 100°C and 250°C, wherein, in said
catalyst based on ZrO
2 or Al
2O
3 on silica, ZrO
2 is present in quantities of less than 15% by weight, essentially in the absence of
any other oxides aside from the silica, or Al
2O
3 is present in quantities of less than 15% by weight, and preferably less than 13%
by weight, essentially in the absence of any other oxides aside from the silica.
