(54)	Control line guide and method of using same

(57) An apparatus and method for manipulating a control line (4) attached to a tubular string (7) lowered into a wellbore through gripping apparatus (12). The gripping apparatus (12) has a control line passage (14) configured to position the control line (4) away from a set of slips (12b) when the tubular string (7) is held. The apparatus is configured to selectively pull and thrust the control line (4) into and out of the control line passage (14).
