(54) Aluminia coating, coated product and method of making the same


(57) A coated body that includes a substrate (22) and a coating scheme (32) on the substrate. The coating scheme (32) on the substrate (22) wherein the coating scheme includes a kappa-alumina coating layer (4) that exhibits either a lenticular grain morphology or a polyhedral-lenticular grain morphology at the surface thereof or an kappa-alpha-alumina coating layer (40) that exhibits either a large multifaceted grain morphology or a polyhedral-multifaceted grain morphology at the surface thereof.
