    Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a cooking range comprising an electronic gas lighter.

[0002] In cooking devices used particularly as countertop cooking ranges, the volume remaining beneath the cooktop wherein burners are arranged is considerably small. The gas pipes delivering gas to gas burners, the knob connections, electrical elements and connections and also the lighter that produces spark for inflaming the gas and the gas burner are disposed in this limited space.

[0003] In state of the art European Patent Application No EP1469255 and in the United States of America Patents No US6429606 and US6506047, the lighters that are used particularly in ranges are explained.

[0004] In these documents, the lighter is secured on the cooking range by means of assembly means, e.g. elastic latches passing through a casing on the supporting surface. However, when the lighter is thus secured on the cooking range, the latches passing through the casing stay outside the cooking range and can be subject to forces applied from the outside. When an impact comes on the cooking range, the latches may be dislocated from the casings and be broken. This can lead to serious problems such as the lighter being dislocated from the cooking range. Document DE 2 029 383 discloses the preamble of claim 1.

[0005] The object of the present invention is to design a cooking range wherein the lighter is secured impact resistantly on the body.

[0006] The cooking range designed to fulfill the objective of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises the features of claim 1.

[0007] Consequently, the detent means, preferably made of a plastic material, that extends to the other side of the surface whereon the lighter is assembled should be protected from damage by impacts. Furthermore, since the casing is formed during configuring of the housing, an extra time and labor is not required for configuring the casing.

[0008] The casing comprises an opening for access of the user with a tool to detach the detent means from the housing. By means of this opening, the detent means can be reached by using a tool and the lighter can be detached from the cooking range.

[0009] With the embodiment of the present invention, the detent means used for securing the lighter on the cooking range, can be assembled on the cooking range impact resistantly.

[0010] The cooking range designed to fulfill the objective of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:

[0011] Figure 1 - is the perspective view of a cooking range.

[0012] Figure 2 - is the view of the lower surface of the cooking range body.

[0013] Figure 3 - is the cross sectional view of the lighter assembled to the body.

[0014] Figure 4 - is the perspective view of detail A.

[0015] Figure 5 - is the top view of detail A.

[0016] Figure 6 - is the sideways view of detail A.

[0017] The elements shown in the figures are numbered as follows:
    1. 1. Cooking range
    2. 2. Cooktop
    3. 3. Burner
    4. 4. Body
    5. 5. Lighter
    6. 6. Detent means
    7. 7. Housing
    8. 8. Casing
    9. 9. Opening

[0018] The cooking range (1) comprises a cooktop (2), a body (4) that defines a closed space under the cooktop (2) wherein the pipes through which gas flows, electrical elements and connections are situated, one or more gas burners (3) disposed on the cooktop (2), a lighter (5) arranged between the body (4) and the cooktop (2), that produces sparks for inflaming the gas, one or more detent means (6) situated on the lighter (5) for securing the lighter (5) to the body (4),
    • one or more housings (7) disposed on the body (4) through which the detent means (6) pass, and
      • a casing (8) that partially covers the housing (7) and the detent means (6) passing through the housing (7),
      • that is made by protruding the surface (F) during forming the housing (7) and protecting the detent means (6) extending out of the housing (7) from impacts by forming a barrier on the housing (7) (Figure 1 and Figure 2).

[0019] The body (4) is formed by joining together plates preferably produced of steel sheets.

[0020] The lighter (5) produces sparks by high voltage and lights the burner (3) by inflaming the gas.

[0021] The detent means (6) is preferably manufactured of a resilient plastic material and is a single piece with the lighter (5).

[0022] The housing (7) is configured on one of the surfaces forming the body (4) of the cooking range (1), preferably on the bottom surface (F), by using the protruding method. The housing (7) is of the dimension for the detent means (6) to pass by stretching.

[0023] The casing (8) is configured during forming the housing (7) by the protruding method process applied on the steel sheet while the body (4) is produced. The protruded portion passes to the other side of the surface (F) forming the casing (8) during the protruding process applied on the surface (F) for configuring the housing (7). The casing (8) comprises an upper wall (T) situated above the surface (F) whereon the housing (7) is situated and more than one side walls (S), disposed between the upper wall (T) and the surface (F) that substantially cover the housing (7) peripherally. The upper wall (T) can either be parallel to the surface (F) or can be inclined. The angle between the surface (F) and the upper wall (T) is preferably an obtuse angle (α) (Figure 6). Furthermore, the casing (8) comprises an opening (9) that allows access to the detent means (6) during the maintenance process. The opening (9) is formed by the walls (T, S) of the casing (8) separating from the surface (F) during the protruding operation. The opening (9) is disposed in the direction of the force applied on the detent means (6) from the outside (Figure 4 and Figure 5).

[0024] The casing (8) partially covers the detent means (6) passing through the housing (7) and the housing (7) when the lighter (5) is assembled on the body (4). The casing (8) forms a barrier on the surface (F) whereon the housing (7) is situated, providing to attenuate the impacts both in the vertical and horizontal directions before reaching the detent means (6). Moreover, the casing (8) is sized such that the end of the detent means (6) is allowed to extend outside slightly, for easily detaching the lighter (5) from the cooking range (1) by dislocating the detent means (6) from the housing (7) using a tool from the outside. The casing (8) is situated on the other side of the surface (F) bounding the space wherein the lighter (5) is situated. When the lighter (5) is assembled on the body (4), the portion of the detent means (6) that reach the other side of the surface (F) by passing though the housing (7), remains between the casing (8) and this surface (F) (Figure 3).

[0025] In the embodiment of the present invention, the lighter (5) is assembled to the cooking range (1) in the following manner: .

[0026] The detent means (6) on the lighter (5) is inserted in the housings (7) that are disposed preferably on the lower surface (F) of the body (4). During this process, the detent means (6) stretches and resumes the initial position after passing through the housing (7). The lighter (5) is prevented to detach from the body (4) unless a force is applied on the walls of the housing (7) and the detent means (6) that bears on the surface (F) whereon the housing (7) is situated. The detent means (6) is protected from any impact that may come from the outside since it remains under (inside) the casing (8) that covers over the housing (7) by passing through the housing (7) and reaching to the other side of the space wherein the lighter (5) is disposed. In this position, when an impact is applied by an object, the object first contacts the walls of (T, S) of the casing (8).

[0027] In order to detach the lighter (5) from the cooking range (1) in a controlled fashion, a force is applied from the opening (9) allowing access from outside, preferably using a tool. The detent means (6) stretched in the direction of the applied force can be dislocated from the housing (7). When the applied force is removed, the detent means (6) resumes its former position.

[0028] The height of the casing (8) is so that at least the portion of the detent means (6) extending out from the housing (7) is covered.

[0029] In another embodiment of the present invention, the detent means (6) and the opening (9) face different directions, and the casing (8) forms the fulcrum for the tool when the detent means (6) is intended to be detached from the housing (7).

[0030] By means of the present invention, the detent means (6), that allow the lighter (5) used in gas ranges to be detachably assembled on the cooking range (1), is protected from impacts.
