[0001] The present invention refers to a door wing preferably to a device for preventing
a door wing to warp, said device comprising at least one clamping rod arranged within
the said door wing.
[0002] Said door wing comprising a device for preventing warping is known from the catalogue
of the company Schachermayer GmbH, Austria. Said device for preventing the warping
of a door wing consists of a pair of long threaded rods screwed together and provided
at each free end with a relatively thick bolt arranged perpendicularly to the said
threaded rods. Said device is inserted into said door wing during the production thereof,
and afterwards the door wing is glued together, finished to the final dimension and
painted. Said device cannot be removed, replaced or inserted into the door wing without
changing the structure of the door wing itself once the door wing is finished.
[0003] It is the object of the present invention to create a door wing where said device
for preventing the door wing warping can be incorporated therein any time during the
entire life span of the door wing.
[0004] Sealing is the vital importance to the entrance door or door separating warm and
cold rooms, and that is why the door wing may not warp. Said warping of the door wing
is the result of a temperature difference between the warm and the cold side thereof.
In order to prevent the door wing warping and to ensure a tight fit thereof against
the door frame resulting in an appropriate sealing, the object as set above is solved
by a device for preventing a door wing to warp where said device comprises a clamping
rod each free end thereof being formed as a threaded end, and a nut which can be mounted
onto each said threaded end. Said clamping rod being inserted into a through-hole
which is made in the door wing before the door wing itself has been finished.
[0005] It is provided according to the present invention that said through-hole is formed
in the door wing in that particular area of the narrower side of said door wing where
a device for opening/closing of the door wing is mounted. Furthermore, it is provided
according to the invention that said through-hole is formed as close as possible to
that side of the door wing which when said door wing is being installed lies on the
cooler side of the door wing.
[0006] In case of warping the door wing according to the invention even several years after
being installed a user themself can eliminate the warping by adjusting the device
using an ordinary household tool thus ensuring that the door wing fits and seals against
the door frame again.
[0007] The invention will be more readily understood on reading the following description
with reference to the accompanying drawing where
- Fig. 1
- shows a three dimensional view of a door wing according to the invention,
- Fig. 2
- shows a partial sectional view of a door wing of Fig. 1, and
- Fig. 3
- shows a cross-sectional view of a door wing of Fig. 1 along the line III-III.
[0008] A door wing 1 with a device 2 for preventing warping according to the invention is
produced in a manner that at first said door wing 1 is produced in its entirety i.e.
the door wing 1 is assembled, machined and optionally painted. Afterwards, a through-hole
5 is made in the border area in one of the vertical narrower sides 3, 4, said hole
5 extends over the entire height of said door wing and penetrates each horizontal
side 6, 7 thereof. Each horizontal side 6, 7 is formed at the port of the through-hole
5 with a depression 8, 9 the radial dimension thereof exceeds the radial dimension
of the through-hole 5.
[0009] Said device 2 for preventing warping comprises a clamping rod 10 the length thereof
is slightly shorter than the height of the door wing 1. Said clamping rod 10 is provided
at each free end thereof with a thread 11, 12 having a nut 13, 14 screwed onto, and
a washer 15, 16 being arranged under said nut.
[0010] Once said wing door 1 according to the invention is finished, including the through-hole
5 and depressions 8, 9, a clamping rod 10 is inserted into said through-hole and the
nut 13, 14, with the washer 15, 16 underneath, is screwed onto each end of said rod
being formed with a thread 11, 12. Each depression 8, 9 is formed with such a dimension
to receive the washer 15, 16 and the nut 13, 14, and that each nut 13, 14 can easily
be accessible by means of an appropriate tool. Thus, higher or lower pressure force
is exerted on the door wing 1 preventing warping of said door wing 1.
[0011] According to the invention it is provided for that said through-hole 5 is made in
the area of that particular narrower side of the door wing where a device for opening/closing
the door wing is arranged. Preferably, said through-hole 5 is manufactured as close
as possible to that side of said door wing 1 which lies on the cooler side of said
door wing when the latter is installed.
[0012] Said device 2 for preventing warping of the door wing 1 can be installed into said
door wing either during manufacturing thereof, or later when the door wing 1 is installed.
According to the invention, said device 2 can easily be either removed from the door
wing 1 or replaced without interfering with the structure of said door wing.
[0013] The door wing 1 incorporating said device 2 for preventing warping thereof can be
made of different materials such as wood, plastic, metal or similar.
