(54) Locking device for a box


(57) A locking device (16) for a locking a lid (14) to a body (12) of storage box (10) is disclosed. The locking device (16) comprises a key operated turnable portion (36) and arms (46) extending from a lock body (44). Each arm (46) has an end portion (54) that is receivable in a first recess (58) in the side of the body (12) and a hook portion (56) that is receivable in a second recess (60) in the front face of the body (12). When the locking device (16) is in an unlocked position the end portions (54) do not extend into the first recesses (58) and the hook portions (56) are positioned so that they can move in and out of the second recess (60) as the lid (14) is lifted. In the lock position the end portions (54) extend into the first recesses (58) and the hook portions (56) can engage a surfaces of the recesses (60) preventing their removal from the recesses (60).
