[0001] This invention relates generally to the field of lighting fixtures, and more particularly,
to a wall lamp fixture with a decorative sticker to provide replaceable pattern of
decoration and eliminate the need of drilling holes on the wall and of utilizing screws/bolts
to mount the wall lamp.
[0002] Wall-mounted lamps are mounted on the walls or even surfaces for interior lighting
and interior design. The most common kind of wall mounted lamps comprises a lamp holder,
a lamp casing engaged with the lamp holder, and fasteners such as screws/bolts for
firmly affixing the lamp holder onto a wall.
[0003] A common feature of this type of wall-mounted lamp is that the mounting of the lamp
requires one or more holes to be drilled on the wall or even surface. By doing this,
the wall surface would definitely be damaged and affected. Another disadvantage of
this lamp is that it tends to be labor intensive to screw the lamp holder on the wall
in place by screwing the screws and bolts or remove the lamp holder from the wall,
especially in the case that the lamp has more than one screw/bolt or a number of the
lamps are to be mounted on the wall. This is not a satisfactory task.
[0004] In addition to provide the purpose of generating illumination, the wall-mounted lamps
of this type are aesthetically desirable and generally show to the decoration effect
when mounted on the wall. However, the appearance and decoration effect of the lamp
are rarely varied because it is difficult to alter the arrangement or structure of
the lamp, or it requires an amount of efforts to attain the variability.
[0005] Although a variety of wall-mounted lamps exist in the prior art, these lamps are
not quick and easy to mount on or take off the wall or even surface; or not convenient
to change their appearance or decoration effect. Therefore, the invention entails
the task of creating a simple and cost-effective wall lamp that is able to be surely
and stably fixed on a wall or even surface, and capable of displaying differently
appealing effect depending on the user's needs. The wall lamp according to the invention
eliminates the use of any kind of fasteners, such as screws/bolts and the need of
drilling holes on the wall, with a consequence of maintaining the surface of the wall
or even surface not to be damaged or affected. Finally, a produced wall lamp should
be compact for shipment, and the present invention could be designed so that all parts
can be packed together compactly.
[0006] The present invention has been developed to fulfill the needs noted above and therefore
has a principal aim of the provision of a wall lamp for mounting onto a wall which
can be securely fixed onto the wall without any damage to the wall.
[0007] Another aim of the invention is to provide a wall lamp which is significantly more
economical and convenient to mount than wall-mounted lamps in the prior art.
[0008] A yet further aim of the invention is to provide a wall lamp which is able to generate
lots of appealing decorations by replacing decorative stickers of the lamp.
[0009] These and other aims and advantages of the invention are satisfied by providing a
wall lamp with replaceable pattern of decoration, comprising:
a lamp holding base having a circumferential edge and comprising at least one lamp
and socket mounted thereon;
a lamp casing detachably engaged with the lamp holding base with the circumferential
edge of the base extending outwards beyond the perimeter of the lamp casing; and
a decorative sticker having a window therethrough for the lamp holding base and the
lamp casing to pass through, the window being dimensioned so that a part of the decorative
sticker is stuck on the extending circumferential edge of the lamp holding base to
enable the lamp holding base to be securely mounted on a wall when the decorative
sticker is put on the wall.
[0010] In one preferred embodiment, at least one sticker is provided at the back of the
lamp holding base for enhancing the mounting of the lamp body to the wall. An electrical
cord is attached to the socket and extends through a space defined by the lamp holding
base and the lamp casing to be connected with a switched outlet, in order to provide
power source for the wall lamp fixture.
[0011] While the lamp holding base and the lamp casing may be engaged with each other by
any type of connecting means known in the art, such as screws or bolts, it is preferred
that the lamp holding base is engaged with the lamp casing in a snap-fit manner. In
a specific embodiment, the lamp holding base includes two protrusions disposed at
one end of the base at a defined spacing and each having a hook receiving aperture;
and a resilient member disposed at the other end of the base and having a raised portion.
The lamp casing includes two hooks spaced at a distance that corresponds to the spacing
of the two protrusions of the base and thus enabling the hooks to be firmly received
in the hook receiving apertures of the protrusions straightforwardly; and an opening
for snugly receiving the raised portion of the resilient member.
[0012] Preferably, the lamp holding base further comprises a plurality of reinforced ribs
extended radially from a central portion of the lamp holding base at equal angular
interval.
[0013] According to the invention, the decorative sticker is the type capable of rolling
up, such as self adhesive paper sticker or plastic sticker, so that it could be stored
inside the lamp holding base when packaged or unused. Consequently, it is possible
that lots of different decorative stickers can be packed within the lamp holding base
at the time of sale. This enables a user to arbitrarily replace the decorative sticker
for creating novelty and interestingness. Due to the ease of putting on or taking
off the decorative sticker without any damage to the wall, the user is allowed to
mount the lamp fixture onto any even surfaces he likes.
[0014] The decorative sticker could be formed with any of a wide range of different desirable
characters, patterns or graphical designs, so as to exhibit variability in configuration
and/or appearance. Examples of the decorative sticker are in the shape of giraffe,
teddy bear, bee, or balloon for babies; skate, rocket, castle, scooter, figurine or
flower for children and teenagers.
[0015] In contrast to the wall lamp fixtures available in the prior art, the wall lamp fixture
of the invention utilizes the stickers and eliminates the need of drilling holes on
the wall, and thus leaving the wall to be unaffected. The decorative sticker simplifies
the mounting of the wall lamp fixture onto the wall. Further, replacement of the decorative
sticker is exceedingly simple owing to the fact that it can be taken off the wall
conveniently and easily. Therefore, the wall lamp fixture according to the invention
is relatively simple in configuration, low in cost and fast to mount, and its decorative
variability is enhanced.
[0016] To have a better understanding of the invention reference is made to the following

In the drawings, like parts are denoted by like reference numerals.
[0017] While this invention is illustrated and described in preferred embodiments, the wall
lamp fixture may be produced in many different configurations, sizes, forms and materials.
[0018] Referring now to the drawings, Figs. 1 to 4 provide a wall lamp fixture 100 constructed
consistent with a preferred embodiment of the present invention. In this embodiment,
the wall lamp fixture 100 comprises a lamp holding base 10, a lamp casing 30, and
a decorative sticker 50 which takes the shape of a giraffe. Although the lamp holding
base 10 and the lamp casing 30 may be engaged by any type of connecting means known
in the art, such as screws or bolts, it is preferred that they are engaged with each
other in a snap-fit manner according to the invention.
[0019] The lamp holding base 10 may be of any size, shape and configuration. In this embodiment,
the lamp holding base 10 is made of plastics and substantially rectangular. The lamp
holding base 10 has a flange 11 and four reinforced ribs 12 extending radially from
a circular holder 13 at the central portion of the base 10 to the flange 11 and arranged
at equal angular interval. The lamp holding base 10 further comprises a circumferential
edge 25 extending from the flange 11. A LED lamp 14 and a socket 15 are received in
the circular holder 13. The socket 15 is attached to an electric cord 16, which extends
outwards from a guiding slot 22 at the flange 11 of the lamp holding base 10 to be
connected with a switched outlet, in order to provide power source for the wall lamp
fixture. The LED lamp 14 may be with various colors such as red, blue and green to
produce various colorful lighting.
[0020] Positioned at one end of the flange 11 are two protrusions 17 disposed at a defined
spacing. It is clear from Figure 5 that each of the protrusions 17 has a hook receiving
aperture 18. Positioned at the other end of the flange 11 is a resilient member 19
which has a raised portion 20 at its outer surface. In this embodiment, the flange
11, the reinforced ribs 12, the circular holder 13, the protrusions 17 and the resilient
member 19 are formed integrally.
[0021] Advantageously, at least one sticker is provided at the back of the lamp holding
base for enhancing and facilitating the mounting of the lamp holding base onto the
wall. In this embodiment, the back of the lamp holding base 10 has two small spaced
apart stickers (not shown).
[0022] The lamp casing 30 is preferably made by transparent or semi-transparent plastic
for spreading of light from the LED lamp. It substantially corresponds in size and
shape to the portion of the lamp holding base 10 which is defined by the flange 11
of the lamp holding base 10, thus allowing the circumferential edge 25 to be exposed
after the engagement of the lamp casing 30 with the lamp holding base 10. In this
embodiment, the lamp casing 30 comprises two spaced apart hooks 31 spaced at a distance
that corresponds to the spacing of the two protrusions 17 of the lamp holding base
10, so that the hooks 31 are snugly received in the hook receiving apertures 18 of
the protrusions 17 straightforwardly. In order to prevent the hooks 31 from moving
too far inwardly once they are received in the hook receiving apertures 18, two stops
21 are arranged on the lamp holding base 10 with respect to the protrusions 17. The
lamp casing 30 further has an opening 32 at a position which corresponds to the raised
portion 20 of the resilient member 19 for snugly receiving the raised portion 20.
[0023] As shown in Figures 6 and 7, by inserting the hooks 31 of the lamp casing 30 into
the hook receiving apertures 18 of the lamp holding base 10 and then pressing the
resilient member 11 due to its flexibility to enable the raised portion 20 to pass
through and bear against the opening 32 of the lamp casing 30, the lamp casing 30
is detachably engaged with the lamp holding base 10 to constitute a lamp body, and
the circumferential edge 25 of the base 10 extends outwards beyond the perimeter of
the lamp casing 30. The stops 21 serve to limit the movement of the hooks 31 upon
being received in the apertures 18.
[0024] Referring to the decorative sticker 50, it is a self adhesive paper sticker in the
shape of a giraffe in this embodiment. The decorative sticker 50 has a window 51 which
is of substantially the same shape as the lamp holding base 10, but is dimensioned
so that a part of the decorative sticker is stuck on and fully conceals the exposed
circumferential edge 25 of the lamp holding base 10, enabling the lamp body to be
securely mounted onto a wall when the decorative sticker is put on the wall and flattened
to be better attached on the wall, as shown in Figure 1. The wall lamp fixture of
the invention can easily vary its appearance by altering the decorative sticker 50,
because the decorative sticker 50 is conveniently taken off the wall without any damage
to the wall. According to the invention, the decorative sticker could be formed with
any of a wide range of different desirable characters, patterns or graphical designs
so as to exhibit variability in its appearance, based on the user's preferences or
needs for decorative design. Examples of the decorative sticker is in the amusing
shape of a giraffe, teddy bear, bee, or balloon for baby; skate, rocket, castle, scooter,
figurine or flower for children and teenagers; or in the appealing shape of classic
and modern lamp. Figure 8 shows some examples of the decorative sticker used in the
invention.
[0025] Due to the use of the decorative sticker and the small sticker at the back of the
lamp holding base 10, the wall lamp fixture 100 can be carried around conveniently.
The decorative sticker would be made separate and rolled and stored inside the lamp
holding base, therefore can be packed for distribution. This allows a plurality of
different decorative stickers to be packed with one set of lamp holding base and lamp
casing for the user to replace the decorative sticker when desired.
[0026] As described above, mounting and dismounting of the wall lamp fixture of the invention
is very easy. The lamp casing is first engaged with the lamp holding base in a snap-fit
manner to constitute a lamp body with the circumferential edge of the base exposed.
Subsequently, the lamp body is stuck on a wall by use of the two small stickers at
the back of the lamp holding base. The decorative sticker is then unrolled to allow
the lamp body to come out of the window of the decorative sticker while a part of
the decorative sticker overlaps with the exposed circumferential edge. Flattening
the decorative sticker against the wall and the circumferential edge of the holding
base enables the wall lamp fixture to be securely mounted onto the wall. When it is
necessary for a new pattern of decoration by replacing a different decorative sticker,
peeling off the mounted decorative sticker and putting on the different decorative
sticker is easy.
[0027] The invention thus provides a wall lamp fixture which is a simple design and allows
for achievement of replaceable pattern of decoration without the need of drilling
holes on the wall and without any damage to the wall.
