(54) Method for the construction of a frame

(57) In the method according to the invention for the construction of a plastic frame 1 with a wood look, horizontal and vertical frame parts 3, 5, are connected together with mitre joints.
A side in view 7 of the frame is then sanded flat by the connection joints 13. A groove 15 is then made near each corner of the frame in the extension of the horizontal rectangular side 17 of the inner circumference edge 9 in the vertical frame part 5.
Finally, the side in view 7 of the frame 1 is provided with a layer of paint or foil 19, which covers the flat sanded connection joints 13, so that they are no longer visible.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:

Field of the invention

[0001] The invention relates to a method for the construction of a rectangular frame provided with a side in view, which after placement in an opening in a wall is found on the inside or the outside of the wall, in which the side in view is provided with a rectangular inner circumference edge and a rectangular outer circumference edge, which frame is composed of four straight frame parts, which extend along the sides of the rectangle, by which method the frame parts formed with mitre joints are fastened by their ends to each other in order to provide a rectangular frame.

Prior art

[0002] Such a method is well known and is used for the construction of frames made of plastic pieces. The connection joins between the frame parts are thus usually at an angle of 45 degrees to the outer circumference edge. This is typically the case in plastic frames. In wooden frames the frame parts are not sawn with mitre joints. The connection joins are hereby at right angles to the outer circumference edge.

[0003] In order to give plastic frames the appearance of wooden frames, using a well-known method plastic pieces are also no longer formed with mitre joints, but are connected together in an analogous manner as with wooden frames. For this purpose new plastic frame parts must be designed and made and connected to each other in a different way to mitre joint formed frame parts. This requires appreciable extra investments.

Summary of the invention

[0004] An objective of the invention is to provide a method for the construction of a frame of the type described in the preamble, in which a plastic frame with the appearance of a wooden frame can be obtained with less extra investments than with the known method for the construction of a frame with the appearance of a wooden frame. For this purpose the method according to the invention is characterised in that at the place of the connection joints the side in view of the frame is sanded flat, and then a groove is made near each corner of the frame in the extension of one of the rectangular sides of the inner circumference edge in one of both frame parts fastened together. In order to provide a plastic frame on the side in view with the appearance of a wooden frame, after the plastic frame is produced in the known way, the method according to the invention is used to modify the side in view of the frame so that it appears as though the connection corners of the frame parts no longer have mitre joints, but are connected to each other in an analogous way as with wooden frames. The existing method for the construction of plastic frames can thus provide a plastic frame with the appearance of a wooden frame in a simple and cheap manner. Preferably horizontal grooves are made in the vertical frame parts. The grooves can be made both in the horizontal and vertical direction in the vertical or horizontal frame part respectively.

[0005] An embodiment of the method according to the invention is characterised in that the side in view of the frame is afterwards provided with a layer of paint or foil, so that the flat-sanded connection joints are no longer visible.

Brief description of the drawings

[0006] The invention will be elucidated more fully below on the basis of drawings in which an embodiment of the method according to the invention is shown. In these drawings:

Figure 1 shows a first step in the method according to the invention in which the frame parts are connected to each other with mitre joints;

Figure 2 shows a second step in the method in which grooves are made in the frame parts; and

Figure 3 shows a third step in the method in which the connection joints are covered.

Detailed description of the drawings

[0007] In the method according to the invention for the construction of a plastic frame 1 with a 'wood look', horizontal and vertical frame parts 3, 5 with the ends in mitre are connected together by complete welding to provide a rectangular frame 1, see figure 1. The frame is provided with a side in view 7, which after placement in an opening in a wall is found on the outside of the wall, and a inner side. The side in view 7 is provided with a rectangular inner circumference edge 9 and a rectangular outer circumference edge 11.

[0008] The side in view 7 of the frame is then sanded flat by the whole welded connection joints 13. A groove 1 is then made near each corner of the frame in the extension of the horizontal rectangular side 17 of the inner circumference edge 9 to the outer circumference edge 11 in the vertical frame part 5, see figure 2.

[0009] Finally, the whole side in view 7 of the frame 1 is provided with a layer of paint or foil 19, so that the flat-sanded connection joints 13 are no longer visible, see figure 3.

[0010] Although in the above the invention is explained on the basis of the drawings, it should be noted that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment shown in the drawings. The invention also extends to all embodiments deviating from the embodiment shown in the drawings within the context defined by the claims. For example instead of the shown horizontal groove in the vertical frame part, a vertical groove can be present in the horizontal frame part. A pivoted frame can also be mounted in the shown frame, in which this pivoted frame is made in an analogous manner. In this way the grooves can be oriented in the pivoted frame otherwise than in the fixed frame. Moreover, the inside of the frame can also be a side in view, which can be provided with a 'wood look' in the same way as the side in view on the outside.

Claims
