OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0001] This invention refers to a mop which can be adapted to brooms, brushes and similar
tools, comprising a long handle with a cleaning element fixed to one end, the evident
purpose of which is to permit said cleaning tools to be transformed from their general
purpose of sweeping into authentic mops for removing dust.
[0002] The purpose of the invention is to use a type of bag made from any textile material,
however preferably of a material suitable for absorbing dust, which shall be incorporated
round the brush or broom in question which will be housed in its interior.
BACKGROUND TO THE INVENTION
[0003] There is a certain kind of conventional mop comprising a long handle with a textile
type brush element which is passed over the floor and, due to its component material,
dust adheres to the mop, thus removing it from the floor surface.
[0004] There are various models of this type of mop, however, all comprise a handle and
a textile terminal which acts as a mop.
[0005] However, other conventional items are also required for effective cleaning, such
as conventional brooms or bristle brushes.
[0006] Therefore, and for adequate cleaning it is necessary to use on one hand, a brush
for solid residues and a mop to eliminate the dust, which means dual costs and space
for storing the items, and the latter is not frequently at a premium, given the reduced
dimensions of most of today's homes.
[0007] In order to mitigate this problem, a mop without a handle has been devised, which
is placed directly onto the broom or brush, thus it is used to remove dust, and when
it is removed, the brush can be used as a conventional sweeping implement.
[0008] Thus, with a single item, namely the brush and the addition of a cloth or covering
sleeve, we have the two classic cleaning elements of brush and dust mop in one.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0009] The mop described in this invention, based on the description in the previous paragraph,
has some particular features giving rise to advantages of both structure and use,
including that of reducing storage space.
[0010] More specifically, the mop which is the object of this invention consists of a rectangular
cloth, preferably made from textile material susceptible to collecting dust, which
will be folded longitudinally on its central part, with one of its smaller sides sewn
on both faces as well as halfway along both upper sides, so that only half of it is
open, thus forming a bag, which, in order to close it on its unsewn side will be provided
with strips of adhesive material, while the other small side will remain open, thus
forming a type of bag which shall be placed over the broom or brush.
DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
[0011] In order to complete this description and to enable a greater understanding of the
characteristics of the invention, in accordance with a practical preferred embodiment
thereof, a set of drawings are attached which form an integral part of this description
and which are illustrative but not restrictive of the invention, and which represent
as follows:
Figure 1.- Shows a front view of the mop partially opened.
Figure 2.- Corresponds to the same view of the previous figure however with a brush
in its interior.
Figure 3.- Shows the closed mop containing the brush in its interior, in the form
in which it will be used.
PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
[0012] As may be seen in the aforementioned figures, the mop which is the object of this
invention comprises a rectangular cloth made from an appropriate textile material
and formed by two equal faces (1,2) folded through a central par (3) and with one
of its small sides (4) sewn along a seam(6) as well as halfway along its upper longitudinal
edge (5) which joins the edges of the parts (1,2) and does so through the seam(7).
[0013] In this way, as may be seen in figures 1 and 2 of the attached drawing, one half
of the mop remains open configured in this way as a bag, and with its facing edges
being provided with respective strips (8) of adhesive material.
[0014] With this mop arrangement and for a rational use thereof, the appropriate conventional
brush (9) shall be placed inside it as illustrated in figure 2 of the plan, and subsequently
having placed the open halves (1,2)facing each other and having ensured that the adhesive
strips (8) adhere to each other through pressure, so that the mop remains firmly attached
to the brush without any possibility of the arrangement from dismantling.
[0015] With this arrangement of the mop covering the brush as shown in figure 3, we are
able to obtain a cleaning tool for collecting dust and which permits a dual use, both
as mop, and when this is removed, as a brush.
