Field of the invention
[0001] The present invention refers the hair extension of the type having locks prearranged
for manual application to the scalp hair without the aid of particular specific tools.
[0002] More in particular, the invention has the object of a hair extension wherein the
lock is made up of a substantially linear hair bundle permanently bonded together
at one end, and anchoring means in form of combs fixed to such hair attachment end,
for attachment the lock with the scalp hair.
State of the prior art
[0003] Hair extension of this type is described and illustrated in the utility model patent
n° 247992 on behalf of EUROSOCAP s.a.s., according to which the permanent attachment
of the hair bundle is obtained with the aid of a cord stitch, and the anchoring combs
in turn joined to the cord stitch through a tying wire fitted through special holes
or eyelets of the combs themselves.
[0004] Though still valid from a commercial point of view, this solution requires operations
for stitching hair and tying the combs, such operations being relatively complicated
and expensive.
Summary of the invention
[0005] The present invention has the object of improving the hair extension known to the
abovementioned Italian utility model n°
247992, and more in particular it has the object of rendering the preparation of the extension
easier and hence less expensive.
[0006] According to the invention, this object is attained due to the fact that the ends
of the hair that make up the substantially linear bundle of the extension lock are
bound together through a strip of thermoplastic adhesive material forming a substantially
solid bundle, and due to the fact that the abovementioned anchoring combs are fixed
mechanically to such bundle.
[0007] The thermoplastic adhesive material conveniently consists in a copolyamide or copolyester-based
thermofusible adhesive, and the fixing of the combs to the strip formed by such thermoplastic
adhesive may be advantageously obtained through mechanical fixing, for example riveting.
Brief description of the drawings
[0008] The invention shall now be described in detail with reference to the attached drawings,
strictly provided for exemplifying and non-limiting purposes, wherein:
- figure 1 is a dorsal schematic elavational view of a hair extension according to an
embodiment of the invention,
- figure 2 is a front elevational view of the extension of figure 1, and
- figure 3 shows an enlarged view of a detail of figure 1.
Detailed description of the invention
[0009] Referring to the drawings, according to a preferred embodiment the hair extension
according to the invention includes a lock 1 made up of a substantially linear and
stratiform bundle 2, of natural or artificial hair, permanently bound together at
an end. Arranged along the ends of the hair 2 is a substantially solid bundle 3 that
incorporates such ends joining them integrally to each other.
[0010] According to the distinctive characteristic of the invention the strip 3 is made
of thermoplastic adhesive material, applied hot and hence hardened, that renders it
relatively solid or rigid and sufficiently robust from a mechanical point of view
as outlined below.
[0011] For example, the thermoplastic material forming the solid strip 3 may consist in
a copolyamide or copolyester-based thermofusible adhesive, for example produced and
sold by the Swiss company EMS GRILTECH under the name Griltex 2A.
[0012] Reference 4 is used to indicate elastic combs that represent the members for anchoring
the lock 1 onto the scalp hair subjected to hairdressing by using the extension 1
according to the invention. The combs 4, generally known, each include an attachment
part 5 from which elastically springing teeth 6 depart for attachment to the scalp
hair in such a manner to allow a quick application and an equally quick removal.
[0013] According to another distinctive characteristic of the invention the combs 4 are
fixed to the solid bundle 3, due to the related mechanical robustness of the latter,
by means of simple through rivets 7.
[0014] It is apparent from the preceding description that the hair extension according to
the invention has, in comparison to analogous known extensions of the same type, the
advantage of being obtainable in an extremely easy and inexpensive manner as well
as being simultaneously robust, with particular reference to the permanent bonding
of ends of the hair and the subsequent mechanical fixing of the related combs for
anchoring to the scalp hair.
[0015] Obviously, the construction details and the embodiments may widely vary with respect
to the description and illustration provided above, without for this reason departing
from the scope of the present invention as defined by the following claims.
[0016] Thus, for example, the general configuration of the lock 1 and the specific structure
of the elastic combs 4, as well as the number thereof, may differ with respect to
the description outlined for simplification purposes.
1. Hair extension including a lock (1) made up of a substantially linear and stratiform
bundle of hair (2) permanently bound together at an end, and anchoring means in form
of combs (4) fixed to said bond ends of the hair (2) for the attachment of the lock
(1) to scalp hair, characterised in that said ends of the hair (2) are bound together by means of a strip made of thermoplastic
adhesive material forming a substantially solid bundle (3), and in that said anchoring combs (4) are mechanically fixed to said bundle (3).
2. Extension according to claim 1, characterised in that said elastic anchoring combs are joined to said solid bundle (3) by means of riveting.
3. Extension according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that said thermoplastic material consists in a copolyamide or copolyester-based thermofusible
adhesive.
