(57) Apparatus (1) for humidifying mats based on loose wood material, comprising means (2) for distributing a heat propagation vehicle on at least one face (M1) of a mat (M) in transit along an advancement direction (A), the vehicle being dry or superheated saturated steam and the distribution means (2) comprising at least one lance (3), which is provided with a plurality of ports (4) for the exit of the steam, which are designed to be arranged at the face (M1) and are distributed transversely to the advancement direction (A), and is connected in input to a unit for generating the steam.
