Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a mascara container with curling tongs. In the mascara
container, curling tongs are provided to shape eyelashes into a desired pattern.
Background Art
[0002] Women apply various colors of mascara on their eyelashes in order to make their eyes
look better. A general mascara container is composed of a container for containing
mascara, a handle which is held by hand so as to open and close the container, a stick-like
brush rod which projects from the lower portion of the handle, and a coating section
which is formed on the lower end of the brush rod. When the handle and the container
are coupled to and separated from each other, mascara is held by the coating section
so as to be applied on eyelashes.
[0003] In accordance with the length and shape of a brush of the coating section for coating
mascara on eyelashes, various effects are provided such as a volume effect, a curl
effect, a long-lash effect, a clean effect and the like. The volume effect is to make
eyelashes look full, the curl effect is to make the ends of eyelashes curled upward,
the long-lash effect is to make eyelashes look long, and the clean effect is to prevent
eyelashes from being massed. Therefore, the coating section is manufactured in various
shapes.
[0004] As such, mascara is applied on eyelashes by using the coating section, in order to
shape a desired eyelash pattern. However, it is inconvenient for a user who is not
familiar with the use, and it takes a long time to put on an eyelash make-up.
[0005] Recently, curling tongs are used for preventing such problems and completing an eyelash
make-up for a short time.
[0006] That is, eyelashes are previously shaped into a desired pattern by using the curling
tongs and then coated with mascara. Therefore, it is possible to quickly shape eyelashes
in a desired pattern.
[0007] However, the curling tongs are not provided with mascara which is necessary for an
eyelash make-up. Therefore, the curling tongs and a mascara container need to be carried
on a trip or going-out, respectively.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
[0024] Hereinafter, a mascara container with curling tongs according to the present invention
will be described with reference to the drawings.
First Embodiment
[0025] Fig. 1 is a perspective view schematically illustrating the structure of a mascara
container with curling tongs according to a first embodiment of the present invention.
[0026] As shown in Fig. 1, the mascara container 100 with curling tongs according to the
invention is composed of a handle 10 which is held by a user's hand, a supporting
rod 15 which is formed to project from the front end of the handle 10, curling tongs
18 which are formed on the front end of the supporting rod 15, and a container 22
having an opening 23 into which the supporting rod 15 is put.
[0027] Then, the structure of the mascara container with curling tongs according to the
first embodiment of the invention will be described in detail with reference to the
drawings.
[0028] Figs. 2 and 3 are vertical sectional view illustrating the structure of the mascara
container with curling tongs according to the first embodiment of the invention.
[0029] As shown in Fig. 2, the handle 10 is composed of an operation switch 11 installed
on the outer circumference thereof, an operation member 13 which has a projection
formed in one side thereof and is transferred forward and backward by the operation
of the operation switch 11, a first elastic member 12 which is mounted between the
front end of the handle 10 and the operation member 13, and a female screw portion
14 which is formed in the front inner side of the handle 10 so as to be coupled to
the container 22.
[0030] One end of the operation member 13 is coupled to the operation switch 11, and the
other end thereof is formed to project from the front end of the handle 10. When a
force is applied to move the operation switch 11 forward, the operation member 13
is accordingly transferred forward by a predetermined distance.
[0031] The first elastic member 12 is mounted between the front end of the handle 10 and
the operation member 13. When no force is applied to the handle 10, the operation
member 13 returns to the previous state. That is, the operation member 13 is transferred
backward.
[0032] The supporting rod 15 is formed to cover the other end of the operation member 13
projecting from the front end of the handle 10. Further, the supporting rod 15 has
a larger diameter than that of the operation member 13 such that the operation member
13 is easily transferred forward and backward by the operation of the operation switch
11.
[0033] In the front end portion of the supporting rod 15, an elastic connection portion
16 is formed to extend from the supporting rod 15. The elastic connection portion
16 supports the curling tongs 18 such that the movement of the curling tongs 18 coupled
to the front end of the operation member 13 is easily performed.
[0034] In this case, the inside of the front end of the elastic connection portion 16 is
obliquely cut so that the curling tongs 18 are easily opened. The elastic connection
portion 16 includes a fixing pin 17 for opening the curling tongs.
[0035] The curling tongs 18, composed of the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash
pressing portion 20, are coupled to the other end of the operation member 13. The
curling tongs 18 are formed in such a shape that the eyelash supporting portion 19
and the eyelash pressing portion 20 can be opened and closed by the forward and backward
transfer of the operation member 13.
[0036] One end of the curling tongs 18 is covered by the elastic connection portion 16.
[0037] In this case, when the operation member 13 is transferred forward, the fixing pin
17 separates the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing portion 20
by a predetermined distance, and the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash
pressing portion 20 are supported by the elastic connection portion 16 so as to be
easily transferred forward and backward by using the elastic connection portion 16
as a transfer path.
[0038] On the other hand, the curling tongs 18 may include a second elastic member 17a which
is positioned between the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing portion
20 so as to open the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing portion
20 by using an elastic force, as shown in Fig. 3.
[0039] As such, the curling tongs 18 including the second elastic member 17a can be easily
opened and closed by the second elastic member 17a when the operation member 13 is
transferred forward and backward.
[0040] The eyelash supporting portion 19 has a comb 21 formed on the surface coming in contact
with the eyelash pressing portion 20, the comb 21 shaping eyelashes into a desired
pattern. When the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing portion 20
are separated and then caused to come in contact with each other so as to tong eyelashes,
the eyelashes are positioned between the teeth of the comb 21 while being spaced at
a predetermined space. At this time, when the handle 10 is rolled and lifted in an
upper direction of the eyelashes, the eyelashes are curled by the comb 21 (the curl
effect).
[0041] The container 22 may be empty in order to protect the curling tongs 18 or may contain
mascara to be applied on eyelashes. The container 22 is composed of an opening 23,
a male screw portion 24, and a blade 25. The opening 23 has a predetermined diameter
such that the curling tongs 18 can be easily put in and pulled out. The male screw
portion 24 is coupled to the handle 10. The blade 25 serves to remove an unnecessary
amount of mascara from the curling tongs 18.
[0042] In the above-described mascara container 100 with curling tongs, if the operation
switch 11 is moved forward to open the curling tongs 18, eyelashes are caused to be
positioned in the space defined by the opened curling tongs 18, and the operation
switch 11 is released, the operation member 13 returns to the previous state due to
an elastic force of the first elastic member 2, and the curling tongs 18 are then
closed to tong and press the eyelashes.
[0043] At this time, if the handle is rolled and lifted in the upper direction of the eyelashes,
the eyelashes are curled by the curling tongs 18 into a desired pattern.
[0044] Hereinafter, the types of the curling tongs 18 which can be applied to the present
invention will be described in detail with reference to Figs. 4 to 8. It has been
described in the above embodiment that the curling tongs 18 are opened and closed
by the fixing pin 17. Without being limited thereto, however, the curling tongs 18
can be opened and closed by the second elastic member 17a.
First Modified Embodiment
[0045] Figs. 4 and 5 are vertical sectional view illustrating a first modified embodiment
of the curling tongs according to the first embodiment.
[0046] As shown in Fig. 4, curling tongs 18 according to the first modified embodiment of
the invention are composed of an eyelash supporting portion 19 and an eyelash pressing
portion 20. One ends of the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing
portion 20 are formed to cross each other around the fixing pin 17 formed therebetween,
and are coupled to the front end of an operation member 13.
[0047] The eyelash supporting portion 19 has a comb 21 formed on the surface coming in contact
with the eyelash pressing portion 20, the comb 21 shaping eyelashes into a desired
pattern.
[0048] When the operation member 13 is transferred forward, the fixing pin 17 formed in
an elastic connection portion 16 separates the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the
eyelash pressing portion 20 from each other, which are moved forward by the operation
member 13, as shown in Fig. 5.
[0049] The elastic connection portion 16 supports the eyelash supporting portion 19 and
the eyelash pressing portion 20 such that they can be easily moved forward. Preferably,
the front inside of the elastic connection portion 16 is obliquely cut so that the
eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing portion 20 are easily moved.
[0050] If no force is applied to the operation switch 11, the operation member 13 is transferred
backward by the first elastic member 12, and the curling tongs 18 are transferred
backward by the transfer of the operation member 13 3 so as to tong and press eyelashes
positioned between the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing portion
20.
[0051] Then, if the handle 10 is rolled and lifted in the upper direction of the eyelashes,
the eyelashes are curled by the comb 21.
[0052] Fig. 6 is a diagram illustrating another modified example of the curling tongs according
to the first embodiment. As shown in Fig. 6, the eyelash pressing portion 20 has a
brush 20a formed on a surface which does not come in contact with the eyelash supporting
portion 19.
[0053] In the mascara container 100 with curling tongs according to the above modified example,
eyelashes are curled into a desired pattern by the curling tongs 18 and are then coated
with water soluble or oil soluble liquid such as mascara or eyelash tonic, which makes
it possible to easily put on an eyelash make-up.
Second Modified Embodiment
[0054] Figs. 7 and 8 are vertical sectional view illustrating a second modified embodiment
of the curling tongs according to the first embodiment.
[0055] As shown in Fig. 7, curling tongs 18 according to the second modified embodiment
are composed of an eyelash supporting portion 19 and an eyelash pressing portion 20.
By reference to the fixing pin 17, the eyelash supporting portion 19 is formed on
the lower side thereof, and the eyelash pressing portion 20 is formed on the upper
side thereof. Further, the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing
portion 20 are formed in parallel to each other so as to be coupled to the operation
member 13.
[0056] One ends of the eyelash supporting portion and the eyelash pressing portion are formed
with inclined surfaces. Therefore, when the operation member 13 is transferred forward,
the curling tongs 18 can be easily opened.
[0057] On the surface of the eyelash supporting portion 19, which comes in contact with
the eyelash pressing portion 20, a comb 21 for shaping eyelashes into a desired pattern
is formed. The eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing portion 20 are
supported by the elastic connection portion 16, when the operation member 13 is transferred
forward and backward.
[0058] When the operation member 13 is transferred forward as shown in Fig. 8, the eyelash
supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing portion 20 are separated from each
other, while one ends thereof slide on the fixing pin 17 which is positioned in the
front side of the position where the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash
pressing portion 20 are in contact with each other within the elastic connection portion
16. Then, the curling tongs 18 are opened.
[0059] Preferably, the inside of the front end of the elastic connection portion 16 is obliquely
cut so that the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing portion 20
can be easily moved.
[0060] Further, when no force is applied to the operation switch 11, the operation member
13 is transferred backward by the first elastic member 12, and the curling tongs 18
are moved backward by the transfer of the operation member 13 so as to tong and press
eyelashes positioned between the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing
portion 20.
[0061] When the handle 10 is rolled and lifted in the upper direction of the eyelashes with
the eyelashes being held by the curling tongs 18, the eyelashes are curled by the
comb 21. Therefore, it is possible to quickly and easily shape the eyelashes into
a desired shape.
[0062] Meanwhile, the eyelash pressing portion 20 may have a brush 20a formed on a surface
which does not come in contact with the eyelash supporting portion 19, as shown in
Fig. 6.
Third Modified Embodiment
[0063] Figs. 9 and 10 are vertical sectional views illustrating a third modified embodiment
of the curling tongs according to the first embodiment.
[0064] As shown in Fig. 9, curling tongs 18 according to the third embodiment of the invention
are composed of an eyelash supporting portion 19 and an eyelash pressing portion 20.
The eyelash supporting portion 19 is coupled and fixed to the front end of the operation
member 13, and the eyelash pressing portion 20 is coupled to the front end of the
operation member 13 such that the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing
portion 20 are parallel to each other by the reference to the fixing pin 17.
[0065] The eyelash supporting portion 19 of the curling tongs 18 is formed to be flat, and
one end of the eyelash pressing portion 20 is formed with an inclined surface which
comes in contact with the eyelash supporting portion 19. Therefore, when the operation
member 13 is transferred forward, the curling tongs 18 can be easily opened.
[0066] On the surface of the eyelash supporting portion 19, which comes in contact with
the eyelash pressing portion 20, a comb 21 is formed, which is used for shaping eyelashes
into a desired pattern. When the operation member 13 is transferred forward and backward,
the eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing portion 20 are supported
by the elastic connection portion 16.
[0067] When the operation member 13 is transferred forward as shown in Fig. 10, the eyelash
supporting portion 19 is moved forward with one side of the elastic connection portion
16 being used as a support, and the eyelash pressing portion 20 is moved forward while
sliding on the fixing ping 17 positioned in the front side of the position where the
eyelash supporting portion 19 and the eyelash pressing portion 20 come in contact
with each other within the elastic connection portion 16.
[0068] The elastic connection portion 16 supports the eyelash supporting portion 19 such
that the eyelash supporting portion 19 can be moved only in the forward and backward
direction without being moved in other directions. Preferably, the inner surface of
the front end of the elastic connection portion 16 is obliquely cut so that the eyelash
pressing portion 20 can be easily moved.
[0069] When no force is applied to the operation switch 11, the operation member 13 is transferred
backward by the first elastic member 12, and the eyelash supporting portion 19 and
the eyelash pressing portion 20 are moved backward by the transfer of the operation
member 13 so as to tong and press the eyelashes positioned between the eyelash supporting
portion 19 and the eyelash pressing portion 20. Accordingly, it is possible to quickly
and easily shape eyelashes into a desired pattern by using the curling tongs 18.
[0070] Meanwhile, the eyelash pressing portion 20 may have a brush 20a formed on a surface
which does not come in contact with the eyelash supporting portion 19, as shown in
Fig. 6.
[0071] Next, a second embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with
