(57) According to one embodiment, an infrared ray receiver (215) is provided in an external
apparatus (100) with a tight emitter (221), and includes a light receiver (102), a
receiver (302), a filter (303), and a changer (311). The light receiver (102) receives
an infrared signal. The receiver (302) receives a signal indicating whether the external
apparatus (100) is active from the external apparatus (100). The filter (303) attenuates
a drive frequency of the infrared signal received by the light receiver (102) for
driving the light emitter (221) of the external apparatus (100). The changer (311)
changes the attenuation rate of the filter (303) for filtering on the drive frequency
based on the signal indicating whether the external apparatus (100) is active.
