(54) Element for reclosing a can

(57) It presents a body (1) in the form of a hood. with suitable diameter and configuration for adapting to the top (2) of a can (3) of drink, and a cylindrical skirt (7) with an interior section that fits with the peripheral projection of the can. The skirt has a screw thread (10) for its mating and a cylindrical projection (12) intended to be positioned on the top of the can. It is completed with a exterior cylindrical thread of mouth (14), with a conventional closing stopper (15).

Description

PURPOSE OF THE INVENTION

[0001] This invention refers to a sealing device applicable to cans of drink.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0002] This covers the manufacture and distribution of drinks, such as fizzy, soft and similar and their consumption, either immediately or later, after opening said cans.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0003] It is a well-known fact that, after opening a can of drink by pulling on the ring-tab that forms part of the sealing system on the top of the can, it is practically impossible to close it again. For this reason, if the contents are not drunk immediately or within a short space of time, there is the risk of losing the fizzy gas and the possibility of foreign matter entering, such as dust and insects etc.

[0004] This is why there is a requirement for a device that enables the can to be temporarily tightly closed again by the user, which also protects the contents from foreign matter.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0005] In order to overcome the mentioned drawbacks, a device has been designed applicable to the top of a can of drink which, before opening the same, prevents contamination of the can top and, when opened, prevents foreign matter from entering the can.

[0006] In order to facilitate the explanation, this description is accompanied by drawings that illustrate a nonlimiting embodiment example of the invention of a sealing device applicable to cans of drink according to the claims principles.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0007]

Figure 1 is a meridian section view of the new device before being applied to a can of drink.

Figure 2 shows the new device after being applied to a conventional can of drink.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0008] The numbered elements on the drawings correspond to the parts indicated below.

[0009] The new sealing device presents a body 1 in the form of a hood, with suitable diameter and configuration for adapting to the top 2 of a can 3 of drink, precisely to the upper edge 4, neck 5 and the truncated cone section 6.

[0010] The base of body 1 derives into a cylindrical skirt 7 that corresponds to the body 3 of the can, the internal edge of which presents a circular section rib 8 intended to be applied around the neck 5 and located below the slight annular projection formed by edge 4.

[0011] The device shall be advantageously constructed from a semi-flexible material, such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), the limited elasticity of which permits perfect adaptation to the periphery of the head 2, thus ensuring device seating on the can body.

[0012] Firm coupling of the device is completed by a thread worming 10 on the inside surface of the skirt 7, a worming conjugated with an annular projection 9.

[0013] Exteriorly, the skirt 7 advantageously presents a fluting 11 parallel to the device axis that facilitates the positioning and separation of the device with respect to the can body.

[0014] Interiorly, the device presents a cylindrical-annular projection 12 that is applied to the inside of edge 4 and contributes to device stabilisation.

[0015] In its polar zone, the body 2 has a cylindrical mouth 13 with exterior thread 14, intended to conventionally receive a closing stopper 15.

[0016] Thus, once the can of drink is opened and possibly after consuming part of its contents, it can be closed with the described device and its interior can be protected by stopper 15.

Claims

1. A sealing device applicable to cans of drink, characterised in that it comprises a body (1) in the form of a hood, with suitable diameter and configuration for adapting to the top (2) of a conventional can (3) of drink, with the assistance of a cylindrical skirt (7), with its interior section of its mouth fitted with an annular rib (8) in the form of a peripheral projection (9) usually formed by the circular top edge (4) of the can.

2. A sealing device applicable to cans of drink, in accordance with claim 1, characterised in that the inside surface of the skirt (7) has a worming thread mating with the usual annular projection (9) of the top of the can for fixing the device to the can.

3. A sealing device applicable to cans of drink, in accordance with claims 1 and 2, characterised in that the inside surface of the body (1) presents a cylindrical projection (12) intended to be positioned interiorly to the circular edge (4) of the top of the can.

4. A sealing device applicable to cans of drink, in accordance with claims 1 to 3, characterised in that it includes vertical fluting (11) parallel to the can axis (3) that facilitates the operation of positioning and separating the device on the can.
