Technical Field
[0001] This invention relates to transportation packages, developed for the safe transportation
of appliances particularly.
Prior Art
[0002] The safe transportation of products is a significant point particularly for the manufacturers.
There are various transportation packages developed by manufacturers, keeping e.g.
the electrical house appliances unaffected against any loads and jams during transportation
or stacking.
[0003] In the published patent application
EP0457118, for instance, is disclosed a transport package for a household appliance, comprising
components protecting the corners of an appliance and crossbars used between said
components. Said crossbars, in turn, are mounted to said packaging assembly by means
of fasteners.
Brief Description of Invention
[0004] In the transportation package according to the present invention, in turn, support
members are fastened to elastic protective members without using any auxiliary fastening
pieces by making use of the elasticity, or the deformability feature of ribs provided
on the protective member.
[0005] The transportation package according to the present invention comprises at least
one elastic protective member placed to the exterior of an item to be transported
and at least one support member fastened to the protective member. The package is
further provided with at least one recess, into which said support member is placed,
as well as at least one elastic rib, jamming the support member in the recess. The
support member is preferably inserted to two recesses, each provided on one of two
separate protective members in the package.
Objective of Invention
[0006] The aim of this invention is to provide a transportation package.
[0007] Another aim of this invention is to provide a reliable transportation package, which
can be easily and inexpensively produced and assembled.
Description of Figures
[0008] An illustrative embodiment of the subject transportation package is illustrated in
annexed figures briefly described hereunder.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a transportation package according to the present
invention.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of a section of the transportation package.
[0009] The parts in said figures are individually numbered as following.
transportation package (A)
protective member (1)
support member (2)
recess (3)
rib (4)
item (5)
Description of Invention
[0010] Figures 1 and 2 provide different perspective views of a representative transportation
package (A) according to the present invention. The transportation package (A) is
developed for a household appliance (5) in this exemplary instance, but can be developed
for other items as well.
[0011] The transportation package (A) comprises at least one protective member (1) located
at the exterior of an item (5) to be transported to keep the item unaffected against
various loads or impacts to emerge, as well as at least one support member (2) to
be fastened to the protective member (1). The protective element (1) is made particularly
from an elastic material (e.g. Styrofoam).
[0012] At least one recess (3) is provided on said at least one protective member (1) to
accommodate said support member (2) in the transportation package (A). Once a support
member (2) is fastened to two recesses (3), each provided on one of two separate protective
members (1) (it being possible to fasten one support member (2) to one protective
member (1) as well), both a coupling is provided between two protective elements (1),
and the transportation package (A) is rendered more robust.
[0013] In order to insert the support member (2) into the recess (3) and to keep it stable
there, at least one rib (4) is provided in the recess (3) keeping the support member
(3) in a jammed state in the recess (3). As the support member (2) is inserted into
the recess (3), it is pushed into the recess under the friction effect (4) of the
ribs. Since the protective element (1) is elastic, the ribs (4) are spread as the
support member (2) is inserted into the recess (3) to jam the support member (2) within
the recess (3). Thus, the protective members (1) and so the transportation package
(A) are rendered more stable and robust. The transportation package (A), together
with the item (5), are then subjected to other packaging operations (e.g. to bagging
and boxing operations).
[0014] Thanks to this invention, it becomes possible to fasten a support member (2) to a
protective member (1) in an easy and inexpensive manner, without requiring the use
of any auxiliary element such as a separate connection piece, tape, etc., on the support
member (2).
1. A transportation package (A) comprising at least one elastic protective member (1)
placed to the exterior of an item (5) to be transported, as well as at least one support
member (2) fastened to the protective member (1), characterized in that said protective member (1) is provided with at least one recess (3) into which the
support member (2) is placed, as well as at least one elastic rib (4) in said recess
(3), jamming the support member (2) within the recess (3).
2. The transportation package (A) according to Claim 1, characterized in that said support member (2) is placed to two recesses (3), each provided on one of two
separate protective members (1).
