Object of the Invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a cigarette paper dispenser from a roll of paper.
This dispenser can also be used in rolls of paper, aluminium foil or cling film, particularly
for household use, even though this is not object of the present invention.
Background of the Invention
[0002] Different paper dispensers are currently known, especially paper for household use,
which is rolled forming a cylinder from which the desired length is extracted by pulling
the free end of the roll axially.
[0003] Household paper dispensers generally have a body designed for supporting the roll
by means of a horizontal roller which passes through a cardboard tube on which the
material forming the roll is rolled, such that it allows the user to unroll and tear
off sheets of the desired length.
[0004] The arrangement of household paper dispensers is not valid when dealing with cigarette
paper, among other reasons because protecting the roll is also necessary for carrying
it in any pocket without it being deformed and therefore becoming unusable. For this
reason, the greatest consumption of cigarette paper is of paper which is manufactured
in loose sheets, assembled in a booklet type case. This entails certain drawbacks
when consuming paper since it is only possible to have a standard size paper available
and therefore the cigarette is also of a standard size.
Description of the Invention
[0005] Rolls of cigarette paper, with one of the side strips having glue applied thereon
for making it easier to seal the cigarette, allow rolling cigarettes of any length
such that they are widely accepted by tobacco smokers. However, unlike rolls of household
paper in which a central cardboard tube or one made of a less deformable material
is used, rolls of cigarette paper lack this support to reduce their size and make
it easier to place them in any pocket, for this reason the deformation of the roll
must be avoided in order to extract a strip of paper and precisely cut it. Thus, the
main purpose of the present invention is to eliminate the aforementioned drawbacks,
having reached the result which has the features described in the characterizing part
of claim 1.
[0006] This dispenser is made up of a substantially cylindrical body internally defining
a coaxial cylindrical cavity, provided with a longitudinal slit that extends along
the generatrix the entire length of the body to allow the passage of the paper unrolled
from the roll. The sides are closed by respective lids which are coupled and fixed
without the possibility of rotating through respective ribs which are located at the
ends of the longitudinal slit.
[0007] This slit along the generatrix is closed by means of a lid articulated longitudinally
with the periphery of the body and has a semi-circumferential configuration adopting,
when closed, a position above said slit. The free edge of this lid has a profiling
defining a sharp, cutting or serrated edge which is positioned adjacent to an end
of the roll of paper, allowing to cut the portion of paper extracted from the tube.
[0008] Replaceable rolls of paper can be included in this cigarette paper dispenser; for
this purpose it has been provided that one of the side caps is associated with a straight
rod running through the axial gap of the roll of paper and is coupled to the other
side cap under pressure, allowing the removal and placement of the first cap to change
the finished roll of paper for another new one.
[0009] The lid is fixed to the body of the roll holder by means of a simple sticky label
which envelops the assembly of both bodies, except in the area corresponding to the
slit along the generatrix. This label allows the hinged movement and the fixing of
the lid to the main body, simultaneously serving as product information and brand
carrying means.
[0010] In an alternative embodiment, the body of the roll holder has a length extending
further than the paper itself included therein. In this case it has an inner disc
forming a cap which demarcates a first cavity for the paper which is unrolled and
exits through a longitudinal slit as described above and a second cavity towards the
opposite side, which is open by a slit wider than the previous slit, this cavity having
the purpose of storing filters or smoking accessory elements.
Description of the Drawings
[0011] To complement the description which is being made and for the purpose of aiding to
better understand the features of the invention, a set of drawings is attached to
the present specification in which the following has been depicted with an illustrative
and non-limiting character:
Figures 1, 2 and 3 show three perspective views of a dispenser made according to the
invention, respectively in the closed position, with the lid open with the elements
in exploded view.
Figure 4 shows respective plan, elevational and profile views of the same dispenser.
Figure 5 shows an exploded perspective view of the parts of an embodiment variant
of the smoking paper dispenser object of the invention.
Figure 6 shows respective plan and elevational views of a dispenser which has an accessory
cavity for filters or similar elements.
Preferred Embodiment of the Invention
[0012] As observed in the mentioned drawings, the device of the invention comprises a, hollow,
cylindrical tube (1) provided with a slit (11) along the generatrix and respective
lids (3) and/or (4) which fit in the edges of said tube (1). These lids have small
protrusions (31) and (41), respectively, which fit in the groove or slit (11) such
that they are immobilised in a fixed position. The lids (3) are fixed and adhered
to the body (1), the lid (4) is provided with a rod (42) which is introduced through
the inside of the roll of paper and is locked under pressure in the lid (3) located
on the opposite side, thus, two embodiments are feasible:
- That shown in Figures 1 to 4 in which the lid (4) is provided with the aforementioned
rod (42) and is accordingly detachable and therefore the roll of paper can be replaced
with another new one.
- The solution depicted in Figure 5 corresponds with a disposable dispenser because
when the inner paper has been used up, a replacement roll cannot be placed since the
lids (3) are fixed during manufacturing.
[0013] The body of the tube (1) has a lid (2) which has a semi-circumferential section and
is hinged in a side area with respect to the slit (11), such that when closed it remains
on top of the slit, covering it. The hinge is formed by the label (5) of the product
itself which is adhered on the body (1) and the lid (2) partially covering them with
the exception of the slit (11). It has also been provided that the edge (21) of the
lid (2) has a profiled section which allows cutting the paper from the inner roll
as it is axially extracted once the desired length has been pulled out.
[0014] Figure 6 shows a cigarette paper dispenser which has a longer length than the paper
itself included therein. It internally has an inner disc (6) forming a cap which demarcates
a first cavity for the paper which is unrolled and exits through the longitudinal
slit (11) and a second cavity towards the opposite side, open by a wider slit (12)
than the previous slit (11), wherein filters or smoking accessory elements can be
stored.
[0015] Having sufficiently described the nature of the invention as well as a preferred
embodiment, it is stated for all intents and purposes that the materials, shape, size
and arrangement of the described elements could be modified provided that it does
not entail an alteration of the essential features of the invention which are claimed
below.

which is closed by means of a lid (2) articulated longitudinally with the periphery
of the body (1) and has a semi-circumferential configuration, being located on top
