(54) Silencer device for air exchanger fans

(57) A silencer device, particularly for air-exchanger fans and the like, characterized in that said silencer device comprises a cylindric tubular casing with an inner side cylindric wall to which a sound damping or absorbing material is applied, at the top thereof said device further comprising a top grid and at a bottom thereof bottom coupling means for connecting said device to a fan outlet.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a silencer device in particular for fans used in air exchangers and the like.

[0002] As it is known, an air-exchanger is an apparatus including either one or more heat exchanging assemblies, to each of which an electric fan is coupled.

[0003] The above apparatus is used, for example, in air refrigerating and conditioning systems.

[0004] A very important problem to be solved in such an apparatus, is that of reducing as far as possible the noise caused by fan generated air turbulences.

[0005] In fact, a turbulent air flow at the outlet of the fan is a very noisy one while interfering against adjoining fan flows, thereby further increasing the overall apparatus noise.

[0006] In this connection it should be pointed out that, as stated, the above fan apparatus are conventionally used in a large number in air-exchanger casing constructions.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0007] Accordingly, the aim of the present invention is to provide a silencer device, in particular for air-exchanger fans and the like, which is adapted to greatly reduce the operation noise of the air-exchanger fans.

[0008] Within the scope of the above mentioned aim, a main object of the invention is to provide such a silencer device, which is designed for preventing air turbulences from forming through said air-exchangers, in particular of a type including multiple air conveying fans.

[0009] Another object of the present invention is to provide such a silencer device which may be easily applied to air outlet ducts of conventional air-exchangers.

[0010] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide such a silencer device which, owing to its specifically designed operational construction, is very reliable and safe in operation.

[0011] According to one aspect of the present invention, the above mentioned aim and objects, as well as yet other objects, which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a silencer device, particularly for air-exchanger fans and the like, characterized in that said silencer device comprises a cylindric tubular casing with an inner side cylindric wall to which a sound damping or absorbing material is applied, at the top thereof said device further comprising a top grid and at a bottom thereof bottom coupling means for connecting said device to a fan outlet.

[0012] Said device has been specifically designed for application to an electrofan air conveyor of an air-exchanger for air refrigerating and conditioning systems.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0013] Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent hereinafter from the following detailed disclosure of a preferred, though not exclusive, embodiment of the invention, which is illustrated, by way of an indicative, but not limitative, example in the accompanying drawings, where:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of an air-exchanger including a plurality of air-exchanger fans to each of which a silencer device according to the present invention is applied;

Figure 2 is a bottom perspective view of the silencer device according to the present invention; and

Figure 3 is a top perspective view of the silencer device according to the present invention.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0014] With reference to the number references of the above mentioned figures, the silencer device according to the present invention, which has been generally indicated by the reference number 1, has been specifically designed for application to a conveyer 2 of an electrofan of an air-exchanger 3 used in air refrigerating and conditioning systems.

[0015] More specifically, the silencer device 1 according to the present invention comprises a metal cylindric tubular casing 5, having an inner metal perforated metal net 6, providing a gap encompassing the inside of the silencer.

[0016] Between the inner metal net 6 and outer wall a sound damping or absorbing material is arranged, said sound absorbing material comprising a rock wool material or other sound absorbing material operating to absorb noises generated at the air outlet, in particular at the air exchanger conveyor assemblies 2.

[0017] The silencer device according to the present invention comprises moreover a top grid 7 designed for reducing noise and preventing articles from falling and also adapted to operate as an accident preventing element for protecting the operator hands from being injured if said hand would be accidentally introduced into the air outlet mouth portions of the air-exchanger fan blades.

[0018] Thus, said top grid 7 is adapted and designed to split the air flow exiting the air exchanger to suppress any noise generating turbulences.

[0019] The silencer device according to the present invention further comprises a plurality of recesses 8 allowing the silencer device to be applied and centered on the conveyor elements 2.

[0020] The inventive silencer device 1, as stated, has been specifically designed for application to air-exchangers of air refrigerating and conditioning systems, for preventing air turbulences from being generated at the outlets of the air-exchanger including a plurality of air conveying fans.

[0021] The sound absorbing material arranged in the gap formed between the metal inner net 6 and outer wall greatly reduces the fan noise, whereas the top grid 7 in turn greatly reduces or nullify the turbulent motion of the outlet air, thereby preventing the fan outlet flows from interfering against one another and hot air from being recirculated, as it would occur in an apparatus not including the inventive silencer device.

[0022] It has been found that the invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects.

[0023] In practicing the invention, the used materials, as well as the contingent size and shapes, can be any, depending on requirements.
